White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking in Genshin Impact is Chapter VII: Act III of the Snezhnaya Archon Quest in Version 7.1. It becomes available after Chapter VII: Act II, Wraith’s Nocturne, and acts as the gateway to several of the update’s most important permanent systems.
Finishing Act III unlocks the route into Act IV, A Rekviem for the Underworld, while also satisfying the story requirement for Swords and Secrets and Secret Tsarist Assignments.

To start White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking in Genshin Impact, reach Adventure Rank 18 and complete Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act II, Wraith’s Nocturne. The Act III quest is permanently available after the Version 7.1 update.
- Adventure Rank 18 or higher.
- Complete Chapter VII: Act II, Wraith’s Nocturne.
- Continue the Chapter VII Archon Quest into Act III.
- Use Focused Experience Mode if other active quests are blocking required characters or locations.
Returning players who are much further behind can still work toward White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking in Genshin Impact without finishing every older regional Archon Quest. Once Adventure Rank 18 and Mondstadt Prologue: Act III are complete, the Snezhnaya Chapter VII chain can be started.
What does White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking in Genshin Impact unlock?
White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking in Genshin Impact is more than one story chapter. Completion is the prerequisite for Chapter VII: Act IV, the Swords and Secrets World Quest and the weekly Secret Tsarist Assignments system.
| Content unlocked after Act III | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| A Rekviem for the Underworld | Required for the Version 7.1 limited five-star selector and time-limited Epilogue. |
| Swords and Secrets | Permanent seven-day World Quest with Vesna and Prime Ice Construct cosmetic rewards. |
| Secret Tsarist Assignments | Weekly Snezhnaya assignments with Furnishings, Blueprints and future reward additions. |
That makes Act III one of the most useful progression priorities for players returning specifically for Version 7.1. Completing it opens several different branches instead of only moving the main story forward by one step.
Does Act III support Focused Experience Mode?
Yes. White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking in Genshin Impact supports Focused Experience Mode. If another quest is occupying an NPC or location needed for Act III, enabling the mode can pause conflicting quest progress so the Archon Quest receives priority.
The system cannot resolve every conflict automatically, and active Hangout progress can be affected. Read the warning before enabling it if you have several other quest chains in progress.
Is the Act III quest permanent?
Yes. White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking in Genshin Impact is permanently available after Version 7.1. There is no need to rush Act III because the chapter itself will disappear.
There is still a reason to finish it during Version 7.1, however. Act III leads into Act IV, and Act IV is tied to the time-limited Tabletop Troupe selector and an Epilogue that ends on November 3 at 14:59 server time.
The Version 7.1 completion-reward window also applies to the new Archon Quest acts. Finishing the corresponding quest before November 3 at 14:59 server time can provide extra Primogems, character Ascension materials, Character Level-Up Materials, Snezhnaya regional specialties and other rewards. White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking in Genshin Impact itself remains permanent after that reward window closes.
What to do after finishing Act III
After Act III, decide which unlock matters most. Continue directly into A Rekviem for the Underworld if you want the anniversary selector and Epilogue, start Swords and Secrets early because it takes seven calendar days, and unlock Secret Tsarist Assignments before a weekly reset if you want faster cumulative progress.
