Veiled Charybdis in Fisch is a special Mariana’s Awakening fishing encounter found inside the Obsidian Trench. It matters for more than bestiary progress because repeated Charybdis catches are also the trigger used to awaken Skolopendra.
The difficult part about Veiled Charybdis in Fisch is its reeling sequence. Whirlpools can interfere with rod control during the encounter, so the catch asks you to manage an environmental hazard at the same time as the normal Fisch progress bar.
How to catch Veiled Charybdis in Fisch

Veiled Charybdis in Fisch Image Roblox.
- Unlock and enter the Obsidian Trench.
- Move to the trench river fishing areas.
- Fish until you hook a Veiled Charybdis encounter.
- Watch for whirlpools during the reeling minigame.
- Avoid letting the whirlpool effect remove your rod control.
- Keep the fish under control until the catch completes.
- Repeat the encounter several times if you are trying to awaken Skolopendra.
Do not treat it like an ordinary catch where all of your attention can stay on the control bar. The whirlpool mechanic is what makes the encounter dangerous, and losing control at the wrong moment can turn a strong attempt into a failed catch.
Where to find Veiled Charybdis
You need access to the Obsidian Trench first. Vaelor’s Mariana’s Awakening quest, the five descendant gauntlets, Crevice Wall and layer gems all come before you can reliably farm Veiled Charybdis in Fisch.
If the area is still locked, follow our Obsidian Trench unlock guide before trying to hunt Charybdis.
How the whirlpool mechanic works
During the special reeling encounter, whirlpools create a control hazard. Getting caught by one can effectively strip away rod control and make the fish much harder to keep inside the bar.
The important tactic is to react to the hazard rather than forcing the catch as if it were a static progress-speed challenge. A rod with strong general control can help, but the update’s special mechanic still needs to be respected.
How many Veiled Charybdis do you need for Skolopendra?
Current live reports put the trigger at approximately four to six Veiled Charybdis. After enough successful catches, the Obsidian Trench crystals turn deep red and signal that Skolopendra is awakening.
Because the trigger is reported as a range, do not stop at four if the environment has not changed. Continue catching Veiled Charybdis in Fisch until the red-crystal state appears.
Why catch more than one?
The first successful catch proves you can handle the minigame, but Mariana’s Awakening intentionally makes the encounter repeatable because it feeds into the boss progression. Repeated catches move the trench toward the Skolopendra state.
Defeating that boss is then part of the unlock route for the Chasm-Stalker Rod, so Charybdis sits directly in the middle of the update’s main progression path.
Remember Trench Suppression
While farming Veiled Charybdis in Fisch, you are still inside the Obsidian Trench and affected by Trench Suppression. Use the glowing white crystals around the area to purge the debuff when necessary instead of letting repeated fishing attempts leave you vulnerable.
You can play Fisch from the official Roblox page.
How this fits into Mariana’s Awakening
The Veiled Charybdis in Fisch progression is part of the September Mariana’s Awakening update, which sends players back through the existing Mariana’s Veil layers before opening the new Obsidian Trench. Keep your layer rods, bait and access routes ready because several of the new objectives deliberately reuse older Veil locations.
Once the five descendant gauntlets are complete, the quest continues through the Crevice Wall, five layer gems and the Abyss Gate. Inside the trench, Trench Suppression, Veiled Charybdis and Skolopendra become the next major systems to learn.
