Second Charged Attack Pokémon GO access is unlocked from a Pokémon’s summary page by tapping New Attack and paying that species’ required Stardust and Candy cost. The exact price varies by Pokémon, and once purchased the extra Charged Attack slot is permanent, giving that individual Pokémon two Charged Attacks it can choose between in battle.
Where to unlock the second move
Open Pokémon storage, select the Pokémon and scroll below its current attacks. Tap New Attack to see the cost before confirming.
That is the entire second Charged Attack Pokémon GO process. You do not need a TM to create the slot; TMs are used afterward if you want to change which Charged Attack occupies it.
Make sure you are upgrading the correct individual before spending resources.
Costs vary by species
Different Pokémon have different Stardust and Candy prices for a second move. Starter Pokémon, babies and some other species can be relatively cheap, while Legendary and Mythical Pokémon can require much larger investments.
Second Charged Attack Pokémon GO costs are shown directly beside the button, so never rely on memory before pressing confirm.
Rare Candy can cover species Candy when needed, but Stardust remains a major shared resource.
Why PvP needs two Charged Attacks
Trainer Battles are where a second move matters most. Two Charged Attacks give coverage, baiting options and different energy costs.
For example, one attack may be cheap enough to pressure Protect Shields while the other delivers stronger closing damage. A single-move Pokémon becomes much more predictable.
Second Charged Attack Pokémon GO investment is therefore standard for serious Great, Ultra and Master League builds rather than a luxury bonus.

Raid attackers do not always need it
Raid battles focus on damage against one known boss. A Pokémon often uses one ideal Charged Attack for the entire encounter, so buying another move can be unnecessary.
There are exceptions for flexible attackers, Mega Pokémon or Pokémon used for several raid types, but do the math before spending.
Second Charged Attack Pokémon GO is frequently excellent value for PvP and poor value for a single-purpose raid attacker.
TMs after unlocking
Once two Charged Attack slots exist, a regular Charged TM changes one selected move to another available non-legacy move at random. An Elite Charged TM lets you choose from the eligible move list, including many event-exclusive attacks.
Unlocking the slot does not automatically grant the best combination.
Second Charged Attack Pokémon GO planning should therefore consider both the unlock cost and whether additional TMs will be needed.
Evolution can change move access
A second Charged Attack slot stays with the Pokémon through evolution, but the available attacks change with the species. This creates a useful strategy for Pokémon that have cheaper second-move costs before evolving.
Baby Pokémon are the classic example: some can unlock a second attack far more cheaply before they evolve into the adult form.
When second Charged Attack Pokémon GO costs look high, check whether an earlier evolutionary stage offers a legitimate cheaper route before evolving.
Shadow Pokémon and Frustration
Shadow Pokémon normally know Frustration, which cannot be removed with a regular Charged TM outside designated Team GO Rocket events. Buying a second Charged Attack does not remove Frustration; it adds another slot beside it.
That can provide temporary usability, but it does not replace removing Frustration when an event allows it.
Second Charged Attack Pokémon GO decisions on Shadows should account for that future move plan.
Do not unlock it automatically on everything
The button is always tempting, especially when Stardust is plentiful after an event. But thousands of unnecessary second moves can drain resources that would build stronger teams.
Prioritize PvP Pokémon you actively use, versatile raid attackers and species with very cheap costs.
Does evolving remove the second move?
No. Once you buy the extra Charged Attack slot, it stays with that individual Pokémon through evolution. The moves themselves can change when the Pokémon evolves, but you do not need to pay the Stardust and Candy unlock cost again.
That makes a cheap baby-stage unlock valuable for species where the second-move cost increases after evolution. Check the cost before evolving if you are building a long-term PvP Pokémon.
Should raid attackers have two Charged Attacks?
Second Charged Attack Pokémon GO investment is usually unnecessary for raids unless the Pokémon has two useful raid roles or you also use it in PvP. A single-type raid attacker normally performs perfectly well with one optimized Charged Attack.
Second Charged Attack Pokémon GO is powerful because it adds options, not because every Pokémon needs two moves. Buy it when those extra options solve a real battle problem.
