Reverse 1999 Ripples on the Water 3.9 lets you select one six-star character for a rate-up from Moldir, Noire, Regulus, Melania, Recoleta and Hissabeth. The first six-star you summon on this event is guaranteed to be your selected character once, and your first ten-pull costs seven Unilog. This banner runs through 17 December 2026 at 09:59 GMT.
It’s a summoning banner, not a free character selector. You still need to pull to obtain the chosen unit, and the first discounted ten-pull doesn’t guarantee a six-star. After the one-time first six-star guarantee, the usual selected-character chance and off-target protection take over. Here’s what each rule means before you spend your Unilog.
How Reverse 1999 Ripples on the Water 3.9 works

Open Ripples on the Water and choose one of the six named characters as your rate-up target. Bluepoch says you can change your selection at any time, so you aren’t locked into a choice forever before summoning. The selection affects which character the banner tries to give you; it doesn’t award all six to your roster.
The event starts after the 5 November Version 3.9 update and ends on 17 December at 04:59 (UTC-5), equal to 09:59 GMT, 10:59 CET and 18:59 JST. The publisher’s server clock is fixed at UTC-5, so use the converted time when planning your final summons.
Reverse 1999 Ripples on the Water 3.9: first six-star guarantee
Your first six-star obtained in the banner is guaranteed to be whichever eligible character you’ve selected. That protection can be used once. It is not a statement that the first ten summons will contain a six-star, and Bluepoch’s published summary does not give a separate exact pull count for that result.
After that first guarantee, the selected six-star has a 50% chance whenever a six-star result appears. If the result is a different six-star, the next six-star is guaranteed to be your selected character. Check the current Details page before changing your target or making a large summon purchase.
What does the seven-Unilog discount cover?
The first ten summons on Reverse 1999 Ripples on the Water 3.9 cost seven Unilog rather than ten. That’s a discount on the first Summon x10, not a permanent price for all ten-pulls. Later pulls do not become free, and the promotion isn’t a guaranteed six-star reward by itself.
Don’t mix this up with Boon of the Water, which starts on 1 December, asks you to choose three possible six-stars and offers a five-Unilog opening ten-pull. These are different summon events even though both offer a discount. The regular Hedone and Narcissus banners aren’t covered by either selector offer.

Does Reverse 1999 Ripples on the Water 3.9 pity carry over?
Bluepoch’s detailed Ripples on the Water rules say that its summon guarantee is shared with future Ripples banners of the same type. It doesn’t share the guarantee with ordinary character banners or other events. When the current event ends, the remaining Ripples guarantee count is carried to the next Ripples event rather than being cleared.
Those carryover rules were published for an earlier Ripples banner, while Version 3.9 confirms this event’s new six-character list. You should still read the Version 3.9 Details screen for its precise terms. It would be a mistake to assume the same carryover policy applies to Boon, whose counter expressly expires.
Who should you choose from Reverse 1999 Ripples on the Water 3.9?
Look at the characters you already use before choosing. A missing support, a favourite damage dealer or a character whose playstyle suits your existing team may be a better target than an abstract tier-list favourite. Since the selected unit can be changed, compare the roster and make your decision before the relevant six-star summon.
The main thing is to know which six-star you are targeting, how the first guarantee works and what your discounted ten-pull actually buys. The Summer-Gold Sea event shop uses Confetti Strip for separate event rewards; it won’t give you this banner’s selected six-star for finishing a story stage.
