Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge is a worldwide event where evolving Spewpa into Vivillon adds to a shared target of 660,000 Vivillon Points. The reward for reaching that total is a rare Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon, with its claim details to be announced separately.

The challenge began alongside a free Spewpa Mystery Gift on 29 October 2026, but you don’t need the gifted Pokémon to take part. Spewpa caught in wild zones or obtained through side missions count when they evolve too. Here’s how to contribute and where to follow the total.

How to earn Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge points

To earn points in the Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge, evolve Spewpa into Vivillon at level 12. You can do this in either the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

  1. Obtain Spewpa through the current Mystery Gift, a wild zone or a side mission.
  2. Raise your Spewpa until it can evolve at level 12.
  3. Evolve it into Vivillon.
  4. Check the global total on the official campaign website.

The important part is the evolution. Simply catching or receiving Spewpa doesn’t add points; it needs to become Vivillon.

Where to check the 660,000 Vivillon Points total

The official event tracker, linked at the bottom of this guide, displays the progress towards the 660,000-point worldwide goal. Its published count updates once per hour, so the number will not change immediately each time a player evolves Spewpa.

Use the official tracker to follow the Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge rather than an older screenshot. It shows the total from players worldwide and updates hourly, so your latest evolution won’t necessarily appear straight away.

The global challenge began at 6:00am GMT on Thursday, 29 October 2026. Pokémon has not listed a separate calendar cutoff for the community campaign. The deadline at 1:59am GMT on 19 November 2026 applies to obtaining the promotional Spewpa through Mystery Gift.

How the Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon reward works

The prize for the Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge is a special Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon. That pattern is not available from the normal Spewpa gift, and it cannot be selected when the gifted Spewpa evolves. It is tied to the global milestone rather than to one player’s evolution result.

Reaching the point target and claiming the reward are two separate steps. Pokémon will announce when the Poké Ball Pattern distribution begins. That special form isn’t part of the current Spewpa gift.

Check Pokémon’s official notices for the eventual claiming instructions. The Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge website is the best place for the published worldwide tally, while the later distribution announcement will establish how players can actually receive the rare form.

Do wild and side-mission Spewpa count?

Yes. Both Spewpa caught in wild zones and Spewpa obtained through side missions contribute after they evolve. You do not have to use the special promotional Pokémon. That makes the Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge accessible to players who prefer to catch their own Spewpa or who have already claimed and evolved the free one.

The challenge counts wild and side-mission Spewpa evolutions just as it counts the gifted Pokémon. You can still contribute after evolving your free Spewpa.

Which Vivillon patterns can the gift Spewpa become?

The gift Spewpa can evolve at level 12 into one of 16 randomly selected patterns: Icy Snow, Polar, Tundra, Continental, Elegant, Modern, Archipelago, High Plains, Sandstorm, River, Monsoon, Savanna, Sun, Ocean, Jungle or Fancy. Its resulting wing pattern does not change the Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge participation rule.

The ordinary Lumiose City Meadow, Marine and Garden patterns are not in this gift’s random pool. Neither is the special Poké Ball Pattern. Players looking for that rare form should follow the separate reward announcement rather than expecting a lucky roll from the promotional Spewpa.

Vivillon Challenge deadlines and eligibility

You can take part using the regular Nintendo Switch version or the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The Mega Dimension DLC and Switch 2 bundle are not required. The free Spewpa gift needs an internet connection and a linked Nintendo Account, but not a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

For the promotional Spewpa, open the X Button menu, then Link Play, Mystery Gift and Get via Internet once Rewards in Mable’s Research has been unlocked. It takes roughly an hour of play to reach the menu, and the gift can be received once per save file.

You can help with the Pokémon Legends Z-A Vivillon Challenge now by evolving Spewpa, then follow the official site for the later Poké Ball Pattern giveaway. The free Spewpa has its own 19 November claim deadline, but Pokémon has not announced an end date for the global challenge.
