The Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass is a free progression track available during Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale, allowing Trainers to choose Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie and earn rewards designed to eventually Mega Evolve their selected Kalos first partner Pokémon. A paid GO Pass Deluxe upgrade adds extra Mega Energy, increased Shiny chances, raid bonuses, avatar rewards and enough Mega Energy to work towards Super Max Mega Level.
The Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass becomes available from Monday, August 31, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. local time after completing the event’s branching Timed Research and selecting Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie.
Your choice matters because it determines which Pokémon encounters, Candy, Mega Energy and Mega Evolution rewards appear throughout your GO Pass.
How to Get the Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass
To unlock the Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass, Trainers first need to complete the branching Mega Finale Timed Research.
During the research, you will choose one of three Pokémon:
- Chespin
- Fennekin
- Froakie
That choice determines the path you receive in the GO Pass.
| Pokémon chosen | Final Evolution | Mega Evolution |
|---|---|---|
| Chespin | Chesnaught | Mega Chesnaught |
| Fennekin | Delphox | Mega Delphox |
| Froakie | Greninja | Mega Greninja |
The free Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass includes enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your selected Pokémon once.

Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Free Rewards
The free track includes rewards tied directly to whichever Kalos first partner Pokémon you select.
Confirmed rewards include:
- Encounters with your chosen Pokémon
- Special Background encounters
- Candy for your chosen Pokémon
- Candy XL
- Mega Energy
- Mega Energy for other Pokémon that can Mega Evolve
- Link Charges
- Stardust
- XP
- Additional rewards
The free Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass provides enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your chosen Kalos partner once, so the core Mega Evolution progression does not require the Deluxe upgrade.
Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Deluxe Rewards
GO Pass Deluxe: Mega Finale adds a substantial second reward track alongside the free version.
Confirmed Deluxe rewards and bonuses include:
- Increased Shiny chance for your chosen partner
- Increased Shiny chance for certain Mega Raid Bosses

Pokémon GO has not published a price on the main Mega Finale event page at the time of writing, so we will add the confirmed price once it is officially displayed.
Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Rank Rewards
The Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass contains major milestone rewards at specific ranks.
| Rank | Free GO Pass reward | Deluxe reward |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Link Charge cap increased to 2,000 | Increased Shiny chance for chosen partner |
| 2 | Special Background encounter with chosen Pokémon | Increased Shiny chance for four-star Mega Raid Bosses |
| 10 | Candy for chosen Pokémon | Candy XL for chosen Pokémon |
| 20 | Mega Energy for chosen Pokémon | Additional Mega Energy |
| 40 | Special Background encounter with chosen Pokémon | Avatar shirt based on final Evolution |
| 60 | Mega Energy for chosen Pokémon | Additional Mega Energy |
| 70 | Special Background encounter with chosen Pokémon | Increased Shiny chance in all wild encounters during Mega Finale event hours |
| 100 | Final Evolution with a Special Background | Large amount of Mega Energy |
Progress does not stop at Rank 100.
After reaching Rank 100, Trainers can continue earning repeat bonus rewards all the way to Rank 600.
That makes the Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass considerably larger than a standard short event pass.
Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Special Background Encounters
Special Background Pokémon are a major part of the Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass.
The free track includes multiple encounters with your selected Pokémon carrying a Special Background.
Confirmed milestones include:
- Rank 2: chosen Pokémon with a Special Background
- Rank 40: chosen Pokémon with a Special Background
- Rank 70: chosen Pokémon with a Special Background
- Rank 100: final Evolution of your chosen Pokémon with a Special Background
For example, choosing Froakie gives you Froakie-focused rewards through the pass and eventually an encounter with Greninja featuring a Special Background at Rank 100.
Choosing Chespin instead changes those rewards to the Chespin and Chesnaught line, while Fennekin follows the Delphox route.
Chespin Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Path
Choosing Chespin makes Mega Chesnaught the focus of your Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass progression.
Chespin is Grass-type, while Chesnaught and Mega Chesnaught are Grass and Fighting-type Pokémon.
The Chespin path gives Chespin encounters, Candy and Mega Energy throughout the pass before eventually rewarding Chesnaught with a Special Background.
Players using GO Pass Deluxe can earn enough additional Mega Energy to push Mega Chesnaught’s Mega Level considerably further.
Fennekin Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Path
Selecting Fennekin makes Mega Delphox your target.
Fennekin begins as a Fire-type Pokémon before evolving into the Fire and Psychic-type Delphox.
The Fennekin Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass path focuses its encounters, Candy and Mega Energy around the Fennekin evolution line.
At Rank 100, Trainers on this path receive Delphox with a Special Background.
Froakie Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Path
Choosing Froakie leads towards Mega Greninja.
Greninja and Mega Greninja are Water and Dark-type Pokémon.
Froakie-focused rewards throughout the Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass include encounters, Candy, Mega Energy and multiple Special Background opportunities.
Reaching Rank 100 provides a Greninja with a Special Background.
Which Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Path Should You Choose?
There is no single correct choice between Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie because your selection changes the rewards you receive throughout the entire pass.
For most Trainers, the best approach is to choose based on which Mega Evolution you most want to build:
| Choose | If you want |
|---|---|
| Chespin | Mega Chesnaught |
| Fennekin | Mega Delphox |
| Froakie | Mega Greninja |
Collectors may also want to consider which Special Background Pokémon they would most like to own, because the GO Pass provides several background encounters from the chosen evolution line.
The decision cannot be treated as just an early research encounter. It shapes the entire Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass.
We will cover Chespin vs Fennekin vs Froakie separately with a more detailed comparison of the three paths.
Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Shiny Bonuses
GO Pass Deluxe adds several Shiny-related bonuses.
At Rank 1, Deluxe holders unlock an increased chance of encountering their chosen partner as a Shiny Pokémon.
At Rank 2, Deluxe holders gain an increased chance of encountering Shiny Raid Bosses from four-star Mega Raids.
At Rank 70, the bonus expands further, increasing the chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon from all wild encounters during Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale event hours.
These bonuses are exclusive to GO Pass Deluxe.
Players using the free Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass still have access to the event and its normal Shiny-eligible encounters, but they do not receive these specific Deluxe Shiny bonuses.
Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Mega Raid Bonuses
GO Pass Deluxe also improves the rewards earned from Mega Raids.
Confirmed bonuses include additional:
- Candy
- Candy XL
- XP
This becomes particularly valuable during Mega Finale because the event features an enormous rotating Mega Raid pool alongside Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y Super Mega Raids.
Mega Mewtwo X appears on Saturday, September 5, while Mega Mewtwo Y appears on Sunday, September 6.
The Mega Finale weekend also removes the Remote Raid limit completely.
Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Avatar Rewards
The avatar reward depends on which partner Pokémon you choose.
| Path | Deluxe avatar reward |
|---|---|
| Chespin | Chesnaught T-Shirt |
| Fennekin | Delphox T-Shirt |
| Froakie | Greninja T-Shirt |
The shirt is unlocked at Rank 40 on the Deluxe track.
The avatar item cannot be independently selected from a different path. It follows your original Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie choice.
Can You Reach Super Max Level With the Mega Finale GO Pass?
The free Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass provides enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your chosen partner once.
GO Pass Deluxe goes considerably further.
Pokémon GO confirms that the Deluxe track provides enough additional Mega Energy to work towards raising the selected Kalos partner to Super Max Level.
That makes the Deluxe pass particularly relevant to Trainers interested in the new higher end of Mega Evolution progression rather than simply unlocking Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox or Mega Greninja once.
When Does the Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass End?
The Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass is available during the Mega Finale event period beginning August 31, 2026.
Pokémon GO has stated that unlocked rewards will only remain claimable for a limited time.
Players should therefore avoid leaving unclaimed encounters, Mega Energy or other milestone rewards sitting in the pass once they have been unlocked.
The main Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale weekend itself takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time on September 5 and September 6.
Is Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass Deluxe Worth It?
The free Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass already contains meaningful rewards, including Special Background encounters and enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your selected Pokémon once.
The major reason to consider Deluxe is progression.
Deluxe adds considerably more Mega Energy, improved raid rewards, increased Shiny chances and the ability to push the chosen Mega Evolution towards Super Max Level.
Players planning to raid heavily during Mega Finale or build Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox or Mega Greninja as far as possible will get more practical value from the upgrade than someone only interested in unlocking the new Mega Evolution once.
The exact value comparison will become clearer once Pokémon GO confirms the final regional price and full quantities attached to every reward.
For now, the most important decision is choosing the right path, because Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie determines the rewards you will work towards throughout the entire Pokémon GO Mega Finale GO Pass.
