Once Human Heart of the Ocean: How to Get It and Spend It

Once Human Heart of the Ocean is an advanced resource exclusive to the Isles of Abyss scenario. It is linked to exploration, journey objectives and ocean combat, then spent when opening challenge rewards. Players chasing the new Precision Load and Turret Enhancement Mods have a particularly good reason to understand how to obtain it.

Start with the scenario and exploration rewards you can already reach before tackling harder ship battles. The official October 21 notes describe several sources, including scenario challenges, treasure and Voyager encounters. Prioritise objectives you’ve unlocked, then put the currency towards the challenge rewards you actually want.

How to get Once Human Heart of the Ocean

You can earn Once Human Heart of the Ocean from scenario challenges, Journey objectives, loot crates and treasure, and Voyager battles. Drops are chance-based, so check the activity’s reward preview before committing to a difficult run.

What is Once Human Heart of the Ocean used for?

For Once Human Heart of the Ocean, the primary function of the material is to open challenge rewards. In particular, the official version 3.1.1 notes identify spending Heart of the Ocean at the reward stage of a Calamity Tower or Sunken Lord fight as a route to the new armour Mods. That links it to combat progression as well as general exploration.

After clearing a Calamity Tower or the Sunken Lord, check its reward screen for the option to spend Heart of the Ocean. Precision Load and Turret Enhancement can come from those reward stages or from challenging the Sunken Lord. Their exact drop chances aren’t listed in the October patch.

Precision Load and Turret Enhancement Mods

Precision Load is a Lower Body armour Mod that returns bullets after long-range weakspot hits. It is a candidate for sustained precision shooting where your weapon and combat style can reliably reach weak spots from a distance. Don’t assume it grants unlimited ammunition; the official description speaks about bullet recovery.

Turret Enhancement is a Gloves armour Mod that increases damage dealt by facilities you use. That points towards facility-focused combat, but the patch note does not specify a numerical buff or all the facilities covered. Test the current in-game item description before designing a build around an exact multiplier.

For Once Human Heart of the Ocean, both mods are meaningful long-term goals rather than something every new character needs to farm on day one. A player still building a first vessel will get more immediate value from supply production, gear protection and a safe travel route.

How to farm Once Human Heart of the Ocean without overreaching

Start with journey objectives and manageable loot sources while you’re building your Tech progression. Once you have a capable ship, the Voyager Ships guide explains roaming encounters that can be boarded or fought. Larger Voyagers offer more difficult fights and better Loot Crates, although a stronger ship does not guarantee Heart of the Ocean on every victory.

As server World Progress opens tower content, move into Calamity Towers. Those encounters also advance server progress through first-clear achievements, so they can be worth organising with other players. Save your resource until you understand the reward stage you’re unlocking rather than spending it blindly.

Does Once Human Heart of the Ocean work in Phase I or Phase II?

Once Human Heart of the Ocean is part of Isles of Abyss as a whole, and the official announcement names ways to obtain it without limiting every source to a single phase. However, the Sunken Lord is an endgame encounter that unlocks as purification progresses in Phase II. Do not travel to an unavailable boss expecting it to be accessible on a new Phase I server.

Phase I lasts approximately five to ten days depending on purification progress; Phase II lasts eleven days. For the different scenario schedules and how to enter, read How to Join Isles of Abyss. You can prepare a stock of resources before the later fights become available.

What if Once Human Heart of the Ocean isn’t dropping?

Check that the event you’re attempting actually lists a chance at the resource. Some treasure crates are ordinary supplies rather than advanced rewards. If you’re attempting a high-level ocean challenge, make sure you’ve reached the relevant phase and that you are claiming its available rewards properly.

The Ship Building guide helps with combat preparation. On land, Haywire Zones introduce specialised survival hazards, so a supply-focused run may require a different loadout from a Voyager fight. The separate free launch rewards guide covers the Starchrom mailbox gift, which is not the same currency as Heart of the Ocean.

Pick up Heart of the Ocean through Journey tasks and exploration first, then move into Voyager and Calamity Tower rewards when you have a ship equipped for the fight.
