Notoriety Quick Throw lets you toss a gadget while keeping your gun out. It arrived with update 3.21.0, alongside a clearer throwing arc, the removal of the old throw delay and a dedicated Throw button on mobile. You can set its PC key in Settings → Controls.
The same patch also changed how knives, shuriken and bricks deal damage. If you’ve been using an older loadout guide, check those numbers before heading into a heist. The new difficulty scaling makes a big difference.
How to set up Notoriety Quick Throw

Open Settings → Controls and find the Quick Throw binding. Assign a key that you can reach while moving and firing. The whole point of Notoriety Quick Throw is to use the selected gadget without having to holster your weapon first.
Settings now opens during a heist, so you can change a binding without abandoning the session. If another action is using the same key, choose a different input and test it before you get into a difficult fight.
What changed about the Notoriety Quick Throw arc?
The throwing path was reworked to be more predictable, and the old delay before a throw was removed. There’s also a Throw Arc setting, switched on by default, which lets you see the projected path of the gadget.
If the guide isn’t visible, check the Throw Arc setting. Use the arc to judge the trajectory, then allow for moving enemies and obstacles. The indicator helps with placement, but it isn’t an automatic hit.
Throwing Knife: new damage, headshots and capacity
The Throwing Knife no longer deals 400 flat damage. It now starts at 150 with difficulty scaling, rising to 900 on Nightmare. Headshots deal twice the damage, and capacity has increased from seven to ten.
That’s a change to both damage and carrying capacity. A knife that felt weak on one difficulty can perform differently on Nightmare, so a flat 400-damage claim from the previous build is misleading.
Shuriken and Brick: what changed in 3.21.0
Shuriken now deal 50 damage per star, scaling to 300 per star on Nightmare, down from the old 100 flat. Headshots deal double damage; capacity rises from 24 to 30. Holding Aim sends three shurikens in an arc.
Brick damage changed from 600 flat to 100 scaling with difficulty, reaching 600 on Nightmare. Capacity has risen from four to five. These changes don’t make every throwable equally powerful: each gadget still has its own role and damage behaviour.
How to use Notoriety Quick Throw on mobile
On phones and tablets, the update adds a THROW touch button. Use Settings → Controls to put it within reach. Our Notoriety mobile controls guide explains the new layout editor and presets.
If THROW is missing, open the layout editor and look for a removed button. The controls are customisable now, so a missing input can simply be part of your saved arrangement.
Why isn’t the quick throw input working?
If Notoriety Quick Throw isn’t responding, check that a key is actually assigned and that you have a throwable selected. On mobile, make sure the Throw button is visible in your layout. The Throw Arc setting controls the on-screen trajectory indicator, not whether you can use the gadget.
If the input still behaves as it did before 3.21.0, close the old session and rejoin. That should be your next test before changing other controls or downloading anything.
