Pokemon Go Ultra Unlock part 1 is well underway, but what’s coming in Ultra Unlock part 2? Dialga’s rival Palkia will be running the show.

Ultra Unlock is actually split into three parts, each lasting for over a week. If you caught much of Ultra Unlock 1, you’ll know what to expect. If you haven’t, the good news is you’ve caught Ultra Unlock part 2 in time.

Pokemon Go Ultra Unlock part 2 – Space

The event flavour text for part two of Pokemon Go’s Ultra Unlock was the following:

It appears space will be distorted as well, causing Pokémon from various places to appear where they usually don’t! Look forward to seeing Palkia appearing in five-star raids, Heatmor and Durant appearing in the wild, and more. Heracross will also be appearing globally for the first time in three-star raids—if you’re lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny Heracross!

When does Ultra Unlock 2 start?

The Ultra Unlock part 2 event in Pokemon go is expected to start on the 6th of August at 10:00 AM local time, and run until the 17th of August at 8:00 PM local time.

This gives us about 11 days more of Ultra Unlock gameplay to get everything we want out of the event, which is pretty long compared to most events in Pokemon Go. It’s probably for the best too, given Ultra Unlock so far has given us a fair few things to do.

What to expect from Ultra Unlock part 2

The second part of the Pokemon Go Ultra Unlock event comes with themed field research tasks available at Pokestops throughout the event just like the first part, alongside a second refresh of the possible Pokemon pools for spawns, eggs and raids.

We didn’t get quite as many new Shiny Pokemon as we did in Ultra Unlock part 1, but I suppose we can’t expect 5 new ones every time.

New Spawns

The following Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in the wild:

  • Clefairy
  • Munna
  • Basculin (Blue and Red striped)
  • Elgyem
  • Heatmor
  • Durant

Pokemon listed in bold will be available as Shiny during the event. This applies to every list below this one, as well.

New Eggs and Hatchables

7km Eggs
  • Shellos (Blue and Pink)
  • Basculin (Blue and Red striped)
  • Heatmor
  • Durant

New Raids

1* Raids
  • Unown U

3* Raids

  • Heracross

5* and Mega Raids

Palkia will be the focus of the 5* raids during this event, but the Mega-Pokemon for the duration of the event is not yet known.

New Shinies

  • Heracross
  • Palkia

The list is definitely a bit shorter than that of Ultra Unlock part 1, but it’d be hard for Niantic to keep a constant level of 5 Shinies per event in a 3 event series, so I think we can let them off on that one.

Is there anything else to be aware of?

That’s about everything for this one, part two of Ultra Unlock seems to be yet another pretty simple event – just yet again it’s packed with a lot of content for us to enjoy.

If you missed the first part of Pokemon Go’s Ultra Unlock event, you can find the details of that event here.
