Tapu Koko, the Legendary Land Spirit Pokemon and guardian deity of Melemele Island, will soon be the main star in a raid hour event for Pokemon Go.

When is the Tapu Koko raid hour in Pokemon Go?

Tapu Koko is currently appearing in Pokemon Go raids thanks to the ongoing welcome to Alola event, so you may have seen it already a few times. With that said, you can soon expect to be seeing a hell of a lot more of Tapu Koko shortly.

This is because on March 9th at 6:00 PM local time, there will be a raid hour event featuring Tapu Koko. This means all raids for the hour will feature this Pokemon, and only this Pokemon (or at least, that’s the intention, barring any bugs.)

The raid hour lasts 1 hour, as you might expect. You can use this time to burn through any raid and remote raid passes you might have to get into as many Tapu Koko raids as you can fit into the time slot. When the time runs out at 7:00 PM local time, new Tapu Koko raids will stop appearing, and the ongoing ones will start to close down – so if you’re trying to get as many as possible, make sure to get in a lobby just before the last few minutes to be on the safe side.

There is some bad news for Shiny hunters; as while these raid hours usually make excellent chances to farm for the alternative visual variant of a Pokemon, Shiny Tapu Koko is simply not publicly available in Pokemon Go at the moment.

It has quite a nice, understated colour scheme, so that’s a bit of a shame.

Regardless, this event will still make for an excellent chance to farm for a strong stat block on this particular legendary Pokemon, so make sure not to miss out!
