Pokemon Go: Does Shiny rate change during Raid Hour?

Raid hours offer a good chance to catch a lot of a specific Pokemon, but does the rate of Shiny spawns during a raid hour increase?

A lot of players encounter Shiny Pokemon during a raid hour, but is this merely a coincidence or does a raid hour buff the rate at which you find a Shiny Pokemon?

Shiny Pokemon rate during Raid Hour

As it turns out, the Shiny rate for Pokemon doesn’t explicitly increase during raid hour events, although there might be a reason or two you could be confused here with this.

For starters, raid hours are almost exclusively, if not entirely exclusively Legendary Pokemon, which have an increased Shiny rate in raids. This is not exclusive to raid hour however, you just encounter them a hell of a lot more often during raid hours.

Another possible point of confusion is that Shiny Legendary Pokemon have a fixed 100% capture rate if you beat them in raids, so you might find and capture them enough for it to feel like there might be a boost during raid hours.

There is no such boost however, simply the usual Legendary raid mechanics at work.

Anything else to be aware of?

That’s pretty much it for this topic, really. Shiny Legendary Pokemon do have a boosted spawn rate already during raids, which can result in players confusing precisely what is happening if they mostly encounter Legendary raids during raid hour events.

In short, they are easier to find than you might expect, but that’s because they’re in a raid as a Legendary Pokemon, as opposed to it being a raid hour mechanic.
