This weeks Spotlight hour in Pokemon Go will feature Solosis, the Cell Pokemon, as well as a doubled transfer candy bonus.

If you’re not particularly a fan of Solosis from the Pokemon series, it might well be worth giving this event a look anyway, as doubled transfer candy for an hour can be a great way to get rid of some spare trash Pokemon and stock up on plenty of candy at the same time, which is a pretty good use for a spotlight hour in my book.

What can we expect from Solosis Spotlight hour?

If you’re not familiar with Spotlight hours in Pokemon Go just yet, the good news is you’re about to be.

These events are basically one-hour long spins on what you’d expect from a Community day – a hell of a lot of one particular Pokemon, in this case, Solosis. It doesn’t come with the Community day extras, but it’ll still make for a great way to farm the featured Pokemon if you’re looking for it.

Which is great, if you like Solosis – not so much if you’re not a fan of the Cell Pokemon.

Fortunately, these events always feature an additional bonus. The spotlight hour bonus, in this case, is Doubled transfer candy, which is actually incredibly useful despite how boring it may sound – it allows you to turn any Pokemon you’re not interested in keeping into a small mountain of candy when you convert them all at once.

It’s a great chance to clear out any excess Pokemon of a specific type you might have that you need more candy for, and many players will save up spare Pokemon to transfer them away during this Spotlight hour if they can.

When is the Pokemon Go Solosis Spotlight hour?

The Solosis spotlight hour for Pokemon GO will start on January 4th at 6:00 PM local time, and run for an hour until 7:00 PM local time – as you may well have guessed from the name of the event.

If you’re unfamiliar with local time, the good news is that won’t matter. Just turn up at the given time and the game does the rest, because Local time is based on the player’s timezone region, and will mean you don’t need to worry about the clock beyond being on time, no timezone conversion is required.

Is there anything else to be aware of?

The only other thing that is really worth considering during Spotlight hours is whether or not you can farm for the Shiny variant of the featured Pokemon using the bonus – in this case, Solosis is not available as a Shiny in Pokemon Go at the time of this event, so that’s a no for now.
