Shinx is a popular Electric-type currently in Pokemon Go raids, but do you know the weakness and counters of the Flash Pokemon?

Shinx doesn’t have too many unique features – it’s a pure Electric-type, which is common enough, and has little variety in its moveset to recommend it for PvP, yet its appearance alone is enough to win Shinx plenty of fans in the Pokemon Go community.

What counters Shinx in Pokemon Go?

If you’re familiar with the Pokemon series, you’ll know by now that certain types have either (or both) of a damage advantage or incoming damage reduction in certain matchups, known as super effective and not very effective respectively. Shinx is a pure Electric-type Pokemon, giving it a surprisingly favourable set of matchups despite its lack of move diversity.

If you’re hoping to counter Shinx in Pokemon Go, you only really have one option – Ground-types. To make matters worse, Shinx will resist Flying, Steel and other Electric-types.

While Ground-types are our obvious winner, being the only Pokemon-type to deal increased damage to Shinx, I’ll cover its move set so that we can get an overview of what to expect if you simply don’t have a Ground-type to choose.

The news on this front is a bit more re-assuring, as Shinx will only use Normal-type or Electric-type moves – as Normal doesn’t really counter anything, this pretty much means that you only have to focus on avoiding things with a weakness to Electric-type attacks – so avoid Water and Flying-type Pokemon for this matchup unless you want to play it on challenge mode.

What is Shinx weak to?

The answer is simply Ground-types, there are no other types that will deal increased damage. Dragon, Grass and other Electric-types will resist his damage somewhat, but Ground-types take the crown on both resisted damage and damage dealt.

Anything else to mention?

That’s really it for the weakness and counters of Shinx in Pokemon Go. Stick to Ground-types and you’ll have this matchup in the bag – if that’s not an option, Dragon or Grass-types will deal normal damage while resisting most of what Shinx can throw back at you, just be sure to avoid Water and Flying-types unless you want to be the one dealing with a type weakness in Pokemon Go.
