Galarian Meowth is a regional spin on an old Pokemon Classic, but do you know what the weakness of this Steel-Type version is?

This shorthand guide is designed to help inform you of the weakness of Galarian Meowth to get you ready to beat the Pokemon when it appears in 1* raids during Ultra Unlock part 3 in Pokemon Go.

What is the biggest weakness of Galarian Meowth in Pokemon Go?

The best bet against Galarian Meowth is its Fire-Type weakness, though you’ll want to watch out for Dig. If you’d like to be as safe as possible, Ground and Fighting-Types will perform almost as well without the weakness to Dig, making them solid backup options.

How did we find the most reliable counter to Galarian Meowth?

As is typical in any Pokemon title, including Go, precisely how strong a Pokemon is and what moves it uses may vary depending on the individual, but there are a few things we can use as a weakness that remains consistent across all of any given species of Pokemon.

The easiest of these to exploit for counter purposes is often the Pokemon’s Type.

Galarian Meowth is a pure Steel-Type, making it resistant to a wide range of other types in Pokemon Go, though fortunately not without getting a weakness or two.

What moves can Galarian Meowth use in battle?

Fast Attacks
  • Metal Claw (Steel)
  • Scratch (Normal)
Charged Attacks
  • Dig (Ground)
  • Gyro Ball (Steel)
  • Night Slash (Dark)

Fire-Types resist both Steel-Type moves but suffers from a weakness to Dig. Fighting-Types will deal their usual damage and have no weakness for Galarian Meowth to hit back, while Ground-Types are a similar story. Fire, therefore, is the strongest bet, but not without a drawback.

Weakness and counters Summary

Fire-Types take the crown on this one, though not without a drawback. Ground and Fighting-Types will both perform reasonably well, but worse than Fire-Types will at their best – though they come with no drawbacks, so there is a tradeoff either way.
