Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact: Location and How to Beat It

Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact at Fellfrost Peak

Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact is the new normal boss added to Snezhnaya in Version 7.1. You can find the boss in the Fellfrost Peak area, and the fight revolves around breaking an Ice Coffin after the boss drops below a certain HP threshold.

The most important part of the encounter is not raw damage. The boss can recover HP if you ignore the Ice Coffin, while correctly handling the mechanic creates a weakened window where your normal damage rotation becomes much more effective.

Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact is located in Fellfrost Peak in Snezhnaya. It is a normal open-world boss rather than a weekly Trounce encounter, so it belongs in the same general farming loop as other character Ascension bosses.

If Fellfrost Peak is still awkward to reach, unlock the nearby Teleport Waypoint first. One of Snezhnaya’s hidden waypoints sits in the Fellfrost Peak area and can be activated simply by travelling to it, unlike several other hidden waypoints that are tied to quests.

How to beat Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact

Fight Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact normally until its HP falls far enough for the Ice Coffin phase to begin. At that point, stop treating the encounter like a standard damage race. The coffin periodically deals nearby AoE Cryo damage and becomes the mechanic you need to solve.

  1. Lower the boss until it enters the Ice Coffin phase.
  2. Trigger Stellar Glimmer so the Ice Coffin becomes fragile.
  3. Attack the fragile coffin with Electro or Anemo damage, which is especially effective against it.
  4. Keep damaging the coffin instead of waiting out the phase.
  5. When the boss becomes weakened, use your strongest burst window before it recovers.

The key interaction is Stellar Glimmer. Once the coffin has been made fragile through that reaction, Electro and Anemo attacks are the strongest tools for breaking through the mechanic. A team that can trigger the reaction reliably will usually feel smoother than one built only around its highest theoretical damage.

What happens if you do not damage the Ice Coffin?

Ignoring the coffin gives Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact a chance to recover some HP and forge an ice blade for a counterattack. That is why the fight can feel as though it is undoing your progress when the mechanic is missed.

Damaging the coffin flips the phase in your favour. Instead of healing and immediately pressuring the party again, the boss becomes weakened for a period, giving you time to unload Bursts, Skills and other high-damage attacks.

Best elements for the Guardian Blade boss

Electro and Anemo are the two elements specifically called out as especially effective once the Ice Coffin is fragile. That does not mean every slot must use one of those elements, but your team should have a reliable way to trigger Stellar Glimmer and then apply enough Electro or Anemo damage to the coffin.

Survivability also matters because the coffin deals periodic AoE Cryo damage around the arena. Bring healing or shielding if your normal team struggles to stay healthy while you are dealing with the mechanic.

Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact rewards

Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact drops Vagabond’s Cracked Armor from level 30 onward. This is the boss Ascension material used by Vesna, who needs 46 copies to reach her final character Ascension.

That makes the boss a direct part of the Vesna material farm. Golden Fern and Ethereal enemy drops can be collected without Resin, while the boss material requires repeated claims from this encounter.

Why the fight keeps healing

If Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow in Genshin Impact appears to heal during the battle, the usual cause is the Ice Coffin phase rather than a hidden passive regeneration effect. Trigger Stellar Glimmer, damage the fragile coffin and do not leave it untouched while the phase runs.

Once that pattern is familiar, the encounter becomes much more predictable. For current patch notices and any later mechanical adjustments, check the official Genshin Impact website alongside the in-game boss tutorial.
