Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode is the highest current Theater difficulty, requiring at least 28 eligible level 70 characters and adding two Arcana challenges to the usual ten-act run. For the October 2026 season, the permitted elements are Hydro, Cryo and Anemo, so clearing Lunar is as much about preserving roster depth as it is about beating individual bosses.
The October Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode rotation is live for the monthly cycle and adds 200 repeatable Primogems beyond the normal Visionary clear. You can enter with 28 characters and take up to 32, with extra roster slots providing additional starting buffs. One Supporting Cast character can also be invited, which is particularly useful if your own Hydro, Cryo or Anemo pool is only just large enough.

Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode unlocks after clearing Visionary Mode. You need at least 28 eligible characters to start, every selected character must meet the level 70 requirement, and the roster can be expanded to 32. The current October element restriction is Hydro, Cryo and Anemo, apart from the season’s Special Guest Stars.
Do not confuse roster eligibility with full builds. A character only needs to satisfy the entry rules to count toward the cast, so a lightly built level 70 support can still solve the roster requirement. Your real damage should come from a smaller set of properly equipped carries and supports that you protect for the harder acts.
| October Lunar Mode rule | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Minimum roster | 28 eligible characters |
| Maximum roster | 32 characters |
| Minimum level | Level 70 |
| Elements | Hydro, Cryo and Anemo |
| Supporting Cast | 1 character |
| Total stages | 10 Acts plus 2 Arcana challenges |
| Extra repeatable Primogems | 200 from the two Arcana challenges |
October 2026 Opening Characters and guest options
The October Opening Characters are Neuvillette, Barbara, Citlali, Kaeya, Wanderer and Prune. Trial versions give every account a usable starting cast, while owned versions benefit from the season’s Fantastical Blessing. The Special Guest Stars can ignore the normal elemental restriction for the season.
For Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode, roster planning matters more than putting every premium character together immediately. Hydro and Anemo can handle much of the early run, while Cryo becomes especially valuable for the Chimeric Winged Lion in Act 8 and the Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device in Act 10. That is the core roster logic for Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode in October.
How Vigor changes a Lunar Mode run
Every character begins with two Vigor, and each Combat Event consumes one Vigor from every character used. Once both points are gone, that character cannot be selected again during the run. This is why a powerful four-character team used twice in the opening acts can leave the back half much harder than it needed to be.
A safer Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode route spreads your strongest characters across different teams. Use trial characters and lower-priority units for easier rooms, then preserve premium Cryo damage, reliable healing and flexible off-field Hydro for the confirmed late fights.
October Arcana 1 and Arcana 2
Lunar Mode keeps the ten standard acts from Visionary and adds two Arcana challenges. In October, Arcana 1 features Rockfond Rifthounds, which makes healing important because Corrosion can punish a shield-only setup. Arcana 2 uses a group of Ruin machines, including Ruin Grader, Ruin Guard and Ruin Drake variants.
Both Arcana clears add 100 repeatable Primogems each. That is the practical reason to push Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode after a normal Act 10 clear: the full repeatable October reward total reaches 1,000 Primogems instead of 800. Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode is much more forgiving when the late-game Cryo plan is decided before Act 1.
Best roster plan for October Lunar Mode
Start by counting roles rather than names. Aim for multiple on-field damage dealers, at least two dependable healers and enough off-field Hydro, Cryo and Anemo application to avoid building every team around the same support. Characters who can contribute without long field time become especially valuable when Vigor is being rationed.
Save Cryo for Acts 8 and 10. The Winged Lion’s Thundercall state is directly answered by Cryo, and the Overseer Device is also a strong reason to arrive with a real Cryo core available. If you have only one premium Cryo carry, do not spend both of its Vigor before those stages.
How the extra 29th to 32nd characters help
The minimum 28-character roster is enough to enter, but Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode rewards a wider cast. Adding the optional 29th, 30th, 31st and 32nd characters increases the starting Blessing Level, giving the run more baseline stats before combat begins. This is the main monthly reward upgrade attached to Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode.
This means an additional level 70 character can be useful even with modest talents and artifacts. If you are one or two bodies away from the maximum roster, raising an already-owned eligible support to level 70 may provide more value for this mode than over-investing in a character who is already strong enough to clear.
Lunar Mode rewards and what you do not need
The two Arcana challenges provide 200 repeatable Primogems in total, bringing the full monthly Performance Tour to 1,000 Primogems for a complete Lunar run. The wider Theater reward path also includes Mora, artifact enhancement materials, talent materials, Toy Medals, Transient Resin and Sanctifying Elixir.
You do not need perfect Stella performance simply to collect the main Arcana Primogems. Prioritise completing the acts and both Arcana encounters first, then return for Stella goals if your roster has enough strength and Vigor to chase cleaner challenge results.
Genshin Imaginarium Theater Lunar Mode is easiest when you treat the roster as a resource instead of trying to force one perfect team through the whole run. Enter with as close to 32 eligible characters as you can, save Cryo for the late October bosses, keep healing for the Rifthound Arcana fight, and secure the two Arcana clears before worrying about perfect Stella results.
