Two Pokemon games have been added to Nintendo Switch Online
When the Nintendo Switch Online service began adding games from the Game Boy and N64, there was one franchise that gamers hoped to see added, Pokemon.
The classic Pokemon games such as Red/Blue/Yellow were re-released on the Nintendo 3DS, and many trainers want to see them brought to the Nintendo Switch so they can become the very best like no one ever was.
While they are still missing on the Nintendo Switch Online as of right now, two other Pokemon games have been added to the service today.
During the Pokemon Presents event, it was announced that two new Pokemon games have been added to the Nintendo Switch Online service.
One of the main perks of the service is being able to play a collection of classic games across multiple platforms including the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, N64, and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
The two new games that have been added are the Pokemon Trading Card Game on the Game Boy Color, and Pokemon Stadium 2 on the N64, both games have been previously announced for the platform for some time now.
The Pokemon Trading Card Game needs no introduction as you have probably opened your share of packs over the years. But, in 1998 it was brought to the Game Boy following the success of the real card game. The game only features the Base, Jungle, and Fossil sets of cards, so it is a blast from the past for original players of the game as many of us remember these cards. Thankfully it doesn’t cost your house to get a Charizard in the video game.
Pokemon Stadium 2 was released in 2000 as a sequel to the 1999 game that is already on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The Pokemon Stadium series allowed trainers to battle on the big screen rather than using the Game Boy and it felt more like the battles you’d see on the TV show.
Online multiplayer is enabled on both games too, which is a nice addition due to Pokemon being a very social game and designed for multiplayer.
All Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will be able to play Pokemon Trading Card Game due to it being a Game Boy Color game, but you will need the more expensive Expansion Pack tier to play Pokemon Stadium 2.
In the coming weeks and months, we can expect to see the likes of 1080 Snowboarding, Excitebike 64, and Mario Party 3 come to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
