With over 18 million followers, Richard Tyler Blevins, better known as Ninja, currently has the most followed channel on Twitch as of August 2022.

But fame and success doesn’t mean that a person is immune from the mental and physical issues many others face. It looks like Ninja has hit the mental wall with streaming and has announced he is taking a break, blanking out his profile in the process.

Ninja posted a status on his official Facebook account and other social media accounts, amassing over 2.6 thousand reactions within an hour. In this post, Ninja said:

“I just need a break…I don’t know when I will be back, or where”

The post doesn’t explain why Ninja feels the need for a break, but most of the comments acknowledged his need for it. One of the comments said:

“You’re the most important person of your life, take time for yourself, you deserve it and thank you for everything you’ve given to community and your role in popularising the video game community! Been a fan since halo reach and I’m really proud of you and everything you’ve done!”

Others also wished him well and said, “take care.” However, one comment mentioned how privileged the streamer sounded in his post, saying:

Damn I wish I could take a vacation from work, and you play video games for a living… people have real problems. Your privilege is showing just a bit here. #unioncarpenters

Expectedly, Ninja’s fans defended the streamer by pointing out how the comment reeks of jealousy and saying everyone sometimes goes through things.

Ninja’s Twitter account also features the same message, along with his name being changed to “User Not Found” and his profile picture removed.

Doing some further digging on his Twitch channel, we have discovered that Ninja was streaming Fortnite earlier today with SypherPK but cut the stream short unexpectedly.

During a match, another play used a Rift To Go to escape a fight, something that many players resort to, which angers a lot of the more aggressive players.

However, this time when the player did it, Ninja just hit the wall and emotionally gave up on the game and his stream, saying to SypherPK:

“I can’t do it anymore, dude, I can’t. These players spamming Rift To Go, I’ve had enough, man, I’m not even kidding. I’ve had enough, I’m leaving. I’ve got to take a break from streaming.”

Ninja then abruptly ended his stream and removed all of his brandings from his social media accounts.

Many content creators suffer from mental health issues and burnout due to the pressure of entertaining large audiences, and we wish Ninja the best and hope he fights through his issues and comes back to streaming stronger than ever.

Ninja started streaming by participating in different esports teams for competitive Halo 3 gameplay. However, when he began playing Fortnite Battle Royale in late 2017, he gradually rose to popularity. The American streamer broke peak viewer records on Twitch and has played Fortnite together with Drake, Travis, Scott, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
