Tails of Iron new Teaser Trailer

Last Updated on: 7th July 2021, 03:59 pm

Tails of Iron is an upcoming PRG adventure with a new trailer coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, XBone, Switch and PC on Sept. 17 2021.

Players will play as Redgi, heir to the Rat Throne, and set out to reclaim their kingdom. If they can best the merciless Frog Clan to do so, anyway.

There’s a lot to unpack from this teaser trailer pretty much immediately. There’s a pervasive grimness to the art style, reminiscent of titles such as Darkest Dungeon.

And throughout the trailer we’re accompanied by narration from Doug Cockle – who makes an absolutely excellent fit for this kind of game with its grim, shadowy art style, as his voice has been deeply embedded in such a style with his work voicing – you guessed it – The Witcher game series’ very own Geralt of Rivia.

I do have to agree with the top comment on the trailer (at time of writing) by WandaVision Productions, having the voice actor of Geralt as narrator was an excellent choice and whoever suggested that originally for this title certainly needs some kind of bonus in their pay check – it’s an excellent choice both in general and for the setting specifically.

The setting of the game

As Doug Cockles narration informs us from the trailer, the world was a peaceful place with a dominant realm known as Crimson Keep, a land of seemingly medieval rat-folk ruled by a King – with the player as Redgi the rat prince as his heir.

The centre of the game seems to be a conflict between the Rat civilisation featured through the start of the trailer and the returning “fork-tongued frogs” featured after the halfway mark.

A conflict highlighted only a tad heavily in the box art for the game shown at the very end.

All in all, it would probably be for the best to simply view the Tails of Iron trailer for yourself by now if you haven’t already.

Between their choice of Narrator, art style and the environment variety in this Tails of Iron trailer alone, the game has come out of nowhere with a very strong appearance.

If the game has captured your attention too, another trailer can be found in the final section of this article dedicated to the story of the game – though it is also available here.

Tails of Iron Pre-order: Crimson Knight DLC pack

Tails of Iron already has a cosmetic DLC called Crimson Knight planned out for its release too, with the contents shown below.

It is a nice looking set of skins with 3 options for your armour, helmet, weaponry and shield each.

Plus, it does seem to be cosmetic only – so it’s certainly not the worst launch DLC for a game by any means. As a bonus, this skin pack comes with physical copies of the game which are already available for pre-order at select stores now.
