Fortnite has remained one of the top games in the world five years since its initial release, with the game being released on every possible platform, including PC, console, mobile, and cloud devices, but one platform Fortnite has been absent from for a long time is iOS.

Apple controversially removed Fortnite from its App Store in 2020 in Chapter 2 Season 3, after Epic Games tried to avoid paying the 30% fee for all transactions made while using an Apple device.

After publicly evading the tax, the game was taken off the App Store, and it remains that way to this day.

Fortnite is coming back to iOS soon

Ever since Fortnite was removed from the App Store and iOS mobile devices, fans of the hit Battle Royale game haven’t been able to download the game on their iPhones or iPads.

For those lucky few iOS users that had Fortnite installed on their devices before the game was removed, they have been able to remain playing the Battle Royale, but no new updates are released, which locks the game on Chapter 2 Season 3. I’m not going to lie; I’m a bit jealous that some gamers can still play in Chapter 2 because I miss it.

But those gamers have missed out on five seasons of Chapter 2, as well as the entirety of Chapter 3 and the start of Chapter 4.

For all of the Fortnite iOS players that are excited to try out Chapter 4, they may not have to wait too much longer to jump into this brand-new map.

On December 31, 2022, Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney posted on Twitter that Fortnite will return to Apple’s iOS and App Store in 2023.

No other information was given, so it is unclear whether Epic Games and Apple have come to an agreement to put the game back on the platform or whether Epic Games is going to concede and pay the 30% Apple tax on all V-Bucks purchases made on the platform.

As we hear more from Epic Games, we will keep you updated on a specific date, but we do know it should be at some point this year, and we’re sure Epic Games won’t want to hang around too long and will be eager to get the game back on the App Store.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and Cloud Gaming via Xbox Game Pass and Nvidia’s GeForce Now.
