Ever since its conception, social media has been a great tool for game studios and developers as it offers a nearly endless amount of reach when promoting a product. However, it also comes with downsides in that leaks and other news can circulate across the internet very quickly.

This is no different from Blizzard as they continue to battle leaks for their upcoming addition to the hit role-playing series Diablo 4.

Posts from social media platforms like Reddit and Imgur revealed major spoilers that the game developers have not even released. With the interest of the public building as the game release won’t be until 2023, it is expected that these kinds of posts would run across the internet.

However, Blizzard continues to wipe these spoilers on the face of the digital world, like a recent tweet about it that was published last weekend was recently put down.

Although it may cause excitement to the public, game leaks may negatively affect games before their release as constant updates and adjustments are being done to the game.

As such, previous leaks may no longer be the same as the actual footage released by the developers and publishers.

This may take a toll on how the general audience will receive the game and may impact the overall marketing of Diablo 4 before the release date.
