Diablo 4 has now joined in on the early footage leaks that recently hit GTA 6. Posts recently appearing on many social media platforms feature what seems to be Diablo 4 gameplay.

After the recent debacle with Rockstar and Take-Two, currently unraveling the mess of leaked GTA 6 footage, Blizzard Entertainment is about to have the same experience. A Reddit post by iV1rus0 leaked two videos of Diablo 4. The first video lasted for five minutes, while the other video was much longer, for a total of 38 minutes.

The leakers seem to have attempted to mask their voices using a voice changer in the clip.

The story behind the leaked Diablo 4 footage

A stark difference between this leak and GTA 6 is that the footage taken for this leak was not forced. There were no private servers hacked, it was early gameplay that was simply recorded. In the video, you will notice that the in-game screen shows multiple watermarks mentioning “Private Test Build” and a string of numbers.

This indicates that this was likely a beta tester. The game is clearly still a work in progress, as some floors of the area were still entirely untextured or otherwise unfinished. Bridges, landscapes and other set pieces seem similarly undetailed.

The first video was footage of the Shop mechanics of the game.

It seems like the player purchases a bundle for a new character. The following gameplay seems to feature someone that looks like a Barbarian. Little combat is shown however, it was just the player roaming around the map while using a skill that looks like a war cry style ability.

Impressions and footage feedback from the audience

The final part of the first video does give a glimpse of the combat mechanics of the game. The player attempts to disrupt a ritual in a corrupted shrine, taking on a bear in the process. The character uses multiple attacks, including a powerful AoE capable of killing a few enemies at once. Attacking the corrupted shrine then seems to attract a wave of enemies, including the undead.

The second video continues with the same character, but in what appears to be a different setting. It starts in a camp, with the player following glowing footprints as a possible guidance mechanic, and occasionally battling more undead.

This video looked more polished than the first one, although it was still evident that the gameplay footage was rugged and unfinished. There were waypoints and luminescent doors, similar to features of previous Diablo games.

The good news with all of this ordeal is that Blizzard Entertainment appears to be heading in the right direction. Unlike the GTA 6 leaked footage, this garnered a fairly positive review overall. The player kept switching from in-game to the map, which was massive, indicating a potentially huge game world to explore.
