How to evolve Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Having your Pokemon evolve is one of the key ways to make them stronger in any Pokemon Game, Pokemon Legends: Arceus included. Considering that it doesn’t happen automatically here though, how do you trigger evolution in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

How to evolve your Pokemon in Legends Arceus

Starting to evolve a Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus is pretty easy once you’ve seen how the process works the first time. Assuming you’ve got a Pokemon that’s all levelled up enough and ready to evolve, you can follow along with the steps below.

To get started, head into your satchel menu by pressing the UP arrow button, and then navigate to the relevant Pokemon on the other side of the screen to evolve, press A to select them and then press A on the Evolve! pop up option followed by confirming it to begin the evolution process.

The natural method in other games will not occur in Pokemon Arceus, so this manually triggered method is the main way to evolve Pokemon here.

As an alternative, here’s the step by step of how to evolve a Pokemon in Legends: Arceus broken down into a list.

  • Press the UP arrow button during normal gameplay
  • Move over to the Pokemon list at the side of this menu
  • Select the Pokemon to evolve
  • Select them with the A button, then press the Evolve! option and confirm it

In this case, I selected Machop for evolution as she’d just hit the required level for it. This is signified by a “ready to evolve” pop up next to the Pokemon when it levels up after gaining XP on the main game screen, and a glowing Poke ball icon in the menu screen shown above.

After the evolve button is used and your choice is confirmed, you’re met with the series-typical Pokemon evolving screen, with a pretty fancy (if repetitive) animation. Give it a few seconds and bam, you’ve evolved your first Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
