In Terraria, you have Health and Mana as your main resources, so learning how to increase them is a top priority as fast as possible.

How to increase your max Mana in Terraria

Maximum mana is increased through the use of Mana Crystals. These are crafted using Fallen Stars, which can only be gathered at night when they spawn by falling from the sky, as the name suggests.

They must be gathered before the dawn of they will disappear, and must be stored in a container or inventory without leaving during daytime as being exposed to sunlight even briefly, such as by throwing them, will also cause them to disappear.

There are no particular crafting requirements for Mana Crystals beyond simply having enough Fallen Stars to combine into one. This means you can craft them on the spot the moment you obtain enough Fallen Stars, making your mana a very easy stat to improve given that many Stars fall each night onto the surface of the world.

After crafting the Mana Crystal, all you need to do then is consume the item for +20 total mana. You’ll find that you need to use quite a few of these to max your mana out though. You start with 20 Mana in total, which can be improved to 200 maximum through the usage of Mana Crystals.

In the desktop version of the game, that means 9 Mana Crystals will be needed. In turn, that means a total of 45 Fallen Stars must be gathered per player character to max out their Mana bars.

Try not to get into the habit of automatically turning Stars into Mana Crystals though, as they’re only used for increasing your Mana capacity and making a single accessory; they can’t even be sold when turned into a Crystal either. Fallen Stars meanwhile have other uses.
