Serving as a final act for the Golden Apple Archipelago, Genshin Impact 1.6’s newest event is the Kaboomball Kombat, a minigame based on one of the puzzles found in the temporary islands.

You can participate right after completing the introduction quest “Big Badaboom Battle”. The minigame is just like tennis: using the Dodoguards, the Travalers need to deflect the Kaboomballs back to the Dodofortress until it’s destroyed. Hitting the balls at the right time will trigger a Perfect Return, getting you some extra points. You have 3 minutes to get the highest score you can.

While some players have been finding the event challenges somewhat difficult (especially when you have high latency), the rewards, which include a nice amount of Primogems, Talent Books and an exclusive Kaboomball Kombat namecard, are too tempting to let them pass by.

Here are some tips that can help you bomb your score up on this new event:

1 – Aim for the side

At first you may think the best solution is to run towards the balls. But by doing this, it’s more likely that you’ll miss your shot. Your best chance is to hit it from the side of the Dodoguard. Remember, your guard will always go around you in circles, so it’s easier to predict when the ball will hit its sides.

2 – Keep moving towards the center

The center is the best position in this challenge, so try to always keep yourself running back to it. By doing so, you can easily position yourself to anywhere you must be, even for golden balls.

3 – Use your buffs!

When you hit consecutive shots, you’ll notice that some small shiny fruits will start to appear around you. These are the Shazamfruits, which work as mini power ups. Their effects go from increasing your movement speed to automatically deflecting the Kaboomballs for you!

4 – Play Kaboomball Kombat on Co Op

Playing with friends is always better, and so is the event. You can match with other people or just invite someone to play with you. Both of your challenges will be done at the same time, and it is easier to make more points. A good strategy is to have someone at front and another one at the back. If the first wall fails, the second one must work, right?

5 – Turn your back

Reddit user JulioToolio discovered that when you turn your back to the fortress, you’ll ALWAYS hit the ball (assuming you’re next to the hitbox). Whether this is intended or not, it seems to be the best strategy yet for getting some easy points.

You’ll have to grind a little if you’re going for all of the rewards, and you’ll surely get better at the game by doing it. More challenges will be released through the next week, so surely new strategies will arrive by then.
