When is Friday Night Funkin Coming Out?

Friday Night Funkin has taken the Internet, and especially YouTube by storm with its charming visuals, amazing soundtrack, and addictive gameplay supplemented with a community which oozes with creativity. With a Kickstarter that raised over $2.2 million in just a month’s time and smashed through all the (realistic) stretch goals, we’re left to wonder: When is Friday Night Funkin coming out?

Well, while we don’t have an exact answer, there’s a good bit we can intuit just from the backer rewards on the official Kickstarter page. The reward tiers which involve the Full Ass Game itself, such as a name being included in the credits, a digital copy upon release, or a playable character are listed with an estimated delivery of April 2022.

Well, that’s not to say the game will be out that month exactly. These tiers were posted upon release of the Kickstarter with a modest goal of $60,000. Since then, stretch goals including 25 extra weeks, online multiplayer, a higher difficulty mode, leaderboards, and more have all been reached. This is a pretty substantial increase to the workload, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it lead to a delay. Considering how much added content there will be, there’s not much to complain about, but take April 2022 with a grain of salt.

Kickstarter projects are no strangers to mismanagement, unexpected delays, and more. I’m not insulting any member of the team behind the full game, as I’m super excited for it myself, but it’s worth considering when anxiously awaiting the release.

So when is Friday Night Funkin coming out? If I had to take a guess, I’d say Summer-Fall 2022 is pretty likely. Until then, let’s enjoy any and all new content coming to the free version and the tons of mods available online!
