Genshin Impact: 5 new features from version 3.1

5 new features from 3.1 featured

The latest version of Genshin Impact introduced not only its first desert region but also some extra QoL changes that made our experience a little bit better. Here, you’ll find 5 new features from version 3.1 that you may or may not have noticed in the last few days.

These changes were documented in the latest patch notes, but some can easily bypass them without noticing. While not completely game-changing, they are doubtlessly helpful in the long run, especially for newer players that won’t need to go through every hardship veterans had.

5 new features from version 3.1

1 – Collei as a new reward in the Abyss

Collei is now a permanent prize for players who clear the 3rd chamber on the 4th Floor of the Spyral Abyss. Just like Xiangling, who’s given on a lower floor, or Barbara, who’s distributed for free by simply leveling, she now joins the pool of free characters, becoming the poster child for the Dendro element.

She’s now the most accessible Dendro character for new players aside from the Traveler (unless you get lucky and get Tighnari) and serves as a good introduction for the element. While she’s not the best support, she’s a pretty decent character on her own, and freebies are always welcome.

2 – Free teleport in your Teapot

You surely have noticed that you now have an extra teleport point to your Serenitea Pot. This was just implemented in this version and removes the necessity for buying a Sub-Space Waypoint just to access it.

Waypoints are still useful as you can spread them across all of your different areas in the Teapot, but now they aren’t practically mandatory in your design just to have an easier way to get in. Nice change overall.

3 – Objects now overlap easier in the Teapot

This was the best change for decoration enthusiasts. While there hasn’t been much new furniture compared to when Inazuma arrived, players can now experiment with their designs much more easily, as overlapping is made way easier now.

Ever wondered how people made some of these objects fly in those amazingly decorated teapots? Yeah, that was made with small bugs, given how Furniture works.

Many videos showed how to actually do it, and while it’s not a bannable offense, Hoyoverse wouldn’t allow us to do it in a “legal” way. They finally changed their minds, so take this chance to use your creativity and decore your pot!

4 – Delete older quests’ archives

One of the biggest issues with the game is its sheer size. With over 12GB on mobile, the game takes more and more storage on everyone’s devices. While a definitive solution was not implemented in this version, we now have a way to alleviate the issue.

Hoyoverse added the option to delete older quests’ archives since they won’t be used anymore. This includes dialogues and cutscenes from completed Archon Quests, as they won’t serve you for anything since the game doesn’t allow you to watch them again.

This can be accessed via Settings > Resources > Quest Resources. You can download them again later if you need to.

Of all the 5 new features from 3.1, this might be the most important, but sadly, it’s not yet available for all servers.

5 – Combat optimizations

Some small changes were made to the IA of some opponents. For example, the Cryo Regisvine will deal less damage to opponents who were recently paralyzed by its attacks. Some opponents also had their damage reduced to be in line with the difficulty curve, while others remained unchanged.

These 5 new features from 3.1 were only some of the new things implemented in this new update, which brought even more content for players to seek out in the land of Sumeru. Take your time while exploring it alongside the new characters Cyno, Candace, and Nilou, which will be released in just a few days.

Genshin Impact is available for PS4, PS5, PC, Android, and iOS. A Nintendo Switch port is scheduled to be released soon.
