HoYoverse is expanding! Genshin Impact’s upcoming 3.0 update called “The Morn a Thousand Rose Brings” will take us to the nation of Sumeru; the home of Nahida, as well as the Dendro element. This is also the last of the seven playable Elemental types to become available.

We were introduced to the Nation of Wisdom, Sumeru through a recent official livestream. Showing us a vast landscape of rainforest and desert, Sumeru is the fourth such nation in Teyvat.

The other thus far playable nations of this world are Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma. Sumeru is thus far best known for its “Akademiya,” home to a great deal of scholars, and is known to be a safe haven for their studies. This includes the Librarian of the Knights of Favonius, Lisa.

Since the game’s release back in 2020, Sumeru will be the first time that the Dendro element will be playable in-game, while the other six elements have been available for some time.

Gameplay, new playable characters, and codes

With the 3.0 update, Travelers will be tasked to unravel the mysteries of The Withering.

This deadly disease appears to be causing trees to suffer. This poses a particular danger to the lush green rainforests of Sumeru. This will be introduced in the upcoming Archon quest, “Through Mists of Smoke and Forests Dark.” We will also be introduced to two new world bosses with optimization for wood farming, cooking, and fishing.

During the first half of the update, players will have a chance to get the following new playable characters in the Event Wishes:

Tighnari – is a 5-star playable character with a bow as his primary weapon and is a known Dendro user. He is the ideal character to start a series of chain reactions based on the Dendro element because of both his charged attack and elemental burst. His constellation is Vulpes Zerda, who is a ranger for the Avidya Forest.

Collei – is a 4-star Dendro character that is also a bow user. She is a student of Tighnari and a trainee ranger active in Avidya Forest. Her constellation is Leptailurus Cervarius, and for a brief period of time, players can sign her up for free by finishing the Graven Innocence, 3.0’s primary seasonal event.

Dori – a 4-star electro support playable character. Dori is a mysterious trader in Sumeru who wields a sword that looks like a claymore. Her constellation is Magicae Lucerna. She has an elemental burst that can aid adjacent team members by regaining health and energy.

There will also be a list of new characters to help the Traveler in their journey. This includes Al Haitham, Nilou, Kusanali/Nahida, Dehya, and Cyno. As well as these, we know that Tighnari, Collei, and a Zhongli rerun will be accessible in the Event Wishes, followed by Dori and reruns of Ganyu and Sangonomiya Kokomi.

The live stream also gave players a few new Genshin Impact codes that can be used if you catch them in time. This is good news to those who have been saving Primogems and are hoping to grab some of the new characters, or maybe any of the upcoming reruns, considering the vast popularity of the likes of Ganyu and Zhongli.

These codes are from the live stream on the 14th of August, 2022 (12:00 am UTC-4) and requires the player to Rank 10 to be used. If you do not redeem them shortly following the livestream, they may no longer be valid.

  • 8ANCKTWYVRD5 – 100 Primogems and ten Mystic Enhancement Ore
  • EA7VKTFHU9VR – 100 Primogems and five Hero’s Wit
  • KT7DKSFGCRWD – 100 Primogems and 50,000 Mora

To redeem the codes, please use the Genshin Impact’s Redeem Site.

Banners, elemental chain reactions, bosses, events and map updates

First Phase Character Banners

  • The new 5-star Dendro Bow character Tighnari will be featured in the banner Virisdescent Vigil.
  • The 5-star Geo Polearm character Zhongli will appear once again in the banner Gentry of Hermitage.
  • The new 4-star Dendro Bow character Collei will feature in both banners.

Second Phase Banners

  • The 5-star Hydro Catalyst character Kokomi will feature in a rerun of the banner Drifting Luminescence.
  • The 5-star Cryo Bow character Ganyu will also be returning in a rerun of the banner Adrift at the Harbor.
  • The new 4-star Electro character Dori will feature both banners.

Travelers should also remember to interact with the Statue of the Seven in Sumeru. This will grant access to the Dendro element, as it has done with other elements previously.

Here are the known elemental reactions with Dendro: Burning, Blooming, and Catalyzing are the three reactions that the Dendro element can initiate when combined with the elements Pyro, Hydro, and Electro respectively.

Bloom and Catalyze change into new reactions during fights. Dendro damage can also be dealt to enemies through a delayed explosive reaction when Dendro Cores produced by the Bloom reaction come in contact with Pyro and Hydro.

Polymorphic changes based on these reactions can also occur to the inhabitants of the Sumeru jungle as it is governed by the powers of Dendro when they encounter these types of elemental damage. These changes may also influence the loot from Dendro-based monsters found in the rainforest.

The Jadeplume Terrorshroom is one of two new world boss introduced with the 3.0 update. It is a fungus-based entity with strong animalistic instincts, both highly territorial and combative. The second world boss introduced in 3.0 will be an Electro version of the Regisivine enemies. This monster is waiting for Travelers in the depths of the rainforest. The new environment will also be teeming with Shroom-Kin, which have developed into a unique species known as the Fungi to defend their regional home.

With the addition of Dendro, players can also expect a deluge of new tutorials involving the new element. This will include the basics of the reactions that can be created with Dendro.

Additionally, it was revealed that the opportunity to acquire a fresh Seelie pet will be part of the combat challenges in Genshin Impact 3.0 update. The following are the confirmed events for the update:

Fayz Trials – This is the primary combat event of the update. Players will have access to a trial for the new playable characters. This will also involve using items and potions that can alter time with a promise of more Primogems as prizes for completed tasks focusing on Dendro-based damage and reactions.

Graven Innocence – Players are tasked to gather photos that will be the primary motivation of toymakers in Port Ormos. As mentioned earlier, this event will also allow players to acquire Collei’s free invitation.

Lost Riches – The traveler will trade antiquated artifacts obtained in quests with prizes that can be used for battle, including the new Dendro Seelie pet.

Tablet Analytics – Players will be given chances to make the most of sporadic buffs during the challenges that will increase in difficulty after completing them. Prizes will include Ascension materials and more Primogems.

As with other new regions, we can expect Sumeru to be flooded with unclaimed treasure to grab too. There are expected to be 4 new Statues of the Seven you’ll need to interact with to reveal the map, and of course more Teleport Waypoints to get around. The Sumeru map will also include a Tree of Dreams, which is expected to be comparable to the Narukami shrines’ Grand Sakura in Inazuma.

Genshin Impact 3.0 will be available on Tuesday, 23rd August, or Wednesday, 24th August 2022 (depending on your timezone and server). The update is expected to be shorter than usual with only five weeks instead of the usual six weeks. This is likely because Genshin Impact 3.1 will be introduced a week early, on Wednesday, 28th September 2022.Â
