Genshin Impact leak: New Artifact Strongboxes coming in 3.0

The Artifact Strongboxes were introduced during the Genshin Impact 2.0 update with the arrival of Inazuma and were never expanded upon since. But this may finally begin to change, as it’s being suggested by some of the new leaks of the Sumeru update. If it’s correct, we’ll be able to create more types of Artifact Sets aside from the 4 we currently have.

The leak comes directly from BLANK, who has been one of the faces of the recent Sumeru reveals, having showcased many of the upcoming characters, bosses, Artifact Sets, and footage of those. As his previous leaks have always been reliable, there’s little to no reason to doubt this one.

Expansions to the Artifact Strongboxes in 3.0

An Artifact Strongbox can be obtained through the Mystic Offering option at Craft Benches, available from Adventure Ranking 45 onwards. You can sacrifice 3 pieces of any 5-star artifact (usually those with bad status) in exchange for a guaranteed 5-star piece of a new set of your choice.

This was introduced as a way to alleviate frustration when farming for a specific Artifact Set and not getting any usable pieces. Or even worst, finally getting some use to those pieces of the different set from the domain you’re currently farming.

But the system currently has a major problem: There are only 4 sets available, being them Gladiator’s Finale, Wanderer’s Troupe, Noblesse Obliged, and Bloodstained Chivalry. And here’s where BLANK’s information gets good, as it says that a lot of other Sets will be obtainable through it.

In its current form, the Artifact Strongboxes only cover a single domain and the boss-specific Artifact Sets. While it makes a good way to get Wanderer’s Troupe pieces for building someone like Ganyu, Gladiator’s Finale is mostly used for its two-piece effect, which can now be effectively obtained from three other different and farmable Sets. The other two sets are a good help, but most characters have better options nowadays.

But if this ends up being true, getting to those options will be a lot easier. Notably, the Crimson Witch of Flames set, considered one of the worst sets to farm for, is on the list. Building your Hu Tao is no longer a nightmare!

With this, all of the sets available at the beginning of the game, with the inclusion of the Blizzard Strayer and Heart of Depth, will be craftable. You cannot decide which part you’re getting, but being able to pick any of them is a great change.

This is only going live on 3.0, but it’s already one of the best changes Sumeru is doing for the game. Hoyoverse seems to be taking a look at some of the older content, and that’s a good sign for future updates. They’ll probably soon reveal more about Sumeru officially, so stay alert for any updates.
