The next update for Genshin Impact is bound to bring back one of the most cherished events the game has ever had, the Windtrace event, but this time, it will bring an end to the unfairness of two specific characters: Ayaka and Mona, who will receive specific nerfs for the event.

Originally an event from the Windblume Festival set in Mondstadt (that happened way back in 1.4), Windtrace consists of a simple hide-and-seek game in the likes of Prop Hunt. The hunter must catch all the rebels, and both have special skills in order to give chase or to deceive their chaser.

Nerfs for Mona and Ayaka during Windtrace

According to a tweet from anonsbelle, who has provided reliable leaked information in the past, their extra passive will be disabled during this run of the event, making them just as fair as any other character.

The issue with Mona and Ayaka (who wasn’t in the game during that time, but would entirely be capable of the same crimes) is that they were too strong in the Windtrace event thanks to their Alternate Sprint skill.

When Mona went to the ground, transforming into the water puddle, she might not even need to use any rebel skill to avoid being captured, as she would be very well hidden. The same would happen with Ayaka.

But now, their special sprints will be disabled. This will make the Windtrace event one of the few places where we can see Mona and Ayaka’s normal sprint animation. A popular place for that is the Spiral Abyss, where all skills are disabled before you commence the room.

With this, the best choice should be small characters, such as Diona and Klee, who can hide very well, or maybe tall characters such as Kaeya or Childe, that are harder to find a place to hide, but are naturally faster than other characters.

Genshin Impact is currently on its 2.3 version, “Shadows Amidst Snowstorms”, which brings a new double rerun feature, new mechanics and improvements to the game, new characters, enemies and special holiday events.

You can play the game for free on mobile devices including Android, iOS, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and Pc on both miHoYo’s official launcher and Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch version is stated to be in development.
