Fortnite: How to avoid and counter the Kamehameha

Fortnite is well known for its collaborations and cross-overs, from Star Wars to Among Us, the Marvel Universe to Marshemello, and Chapter 3 Season 3 is no exception to the rule with the latest addition of Dragon Ball Z. However, the addition of a new mythic weapon, is bringing much frustration to players on the Island, with the big question being asked, how do we counter the Kamehameha?
The mythic Kamehameha was introduced to the game on August 16, 2022, during the v21.40 update, and is the strongest weapon currently in the game, dealing over 200 damage to players in a matter of seconds.
What are the most effective ways to avoid and counter the Kamehameha? And where can we find one? Let’s take a look below!
How to avoid and counter the Kamehameha
The mythic Kamehameha has been raising the question, ‘how do we counter the Kamehameha?’, since its arrival. This weapon uses brute force on players and can take down mass structures in a matter of seconds.
However, a few simple steps ensure players can easily survive or avoid an attack, sending the player using the mythic Kamehameha straight back to the lobby!

The obvious method is to shoot the player firing the Kamehameha. But as we all know, when the glowing light is focused on you and you hear the dreaded sound, it can be difficult to see where the player is, or where the attack is coming from. With such a short time frame to shoot the player, it can prove tough to do if you are in a battle with other players. And if you’re on a build or structure.. the Kamehameha will tear it down sending all the players plummeting to the ground.
A proven, simple, yet very effective measure to counter the Kamehameha is by using a Boogie Bomb, a method used by players in Season X whilst trying to avoid the wrath of the incredibly overpowered BRUTE Mechs! A boogie bomb can be thrown in the direction of the player to counter the Kamehameha, and because the boogie bomb covers a large radius, the accuracy of the throw isn’t overly important, a huge bonus when the chaos of the Kamehameha embarks upon players!

The Kamehameha can also be used in conjunction with the Nimbus Cloud, and due to the range of the Kamehameha, the player with the Kamehameha and Nimbus Cloud has the advantage of destroying other players and structures from up high, making it much more difficult to counter the attack. In this event, if the targeted player also has a Nimbus Cloud, they can use this to gain height to shoot the player with the Kamehameha, or use the Nimbus cloud as a method to escape quickly!
Of course, the other option to avoid and counter the Kamehameha is to sprint! Sprint far, far away!
Where to find a Nimbus Cloud and Kamehameha
Nimbus Clouds and the Kamehameha are available to players via 2 sources.
The first of which are special vending machines located across the island. For 250 gold bars, players can purchase a Nimbus Cloud or Kamehameha, or both for 500 gold bars. These vending machines store a limited quantity of 2 of each item, but are spread around the map and widely available to players.
Another option is to wait for a capsule to land on the island. The capsule locations are clearly displayed on the map once they have landed. These capsules spawn frequently throughout gameplay, and upon location, players can open the capsule, causing it to disappear and drop a Nimbus Cloud and Kamehameha at no cost to players.
