Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 is almost over and Chapter 3 is set to be ushered in after the highly anticipated The End event.

The Fortnite island is set to be destroyed and we will be saying goodbye to it for good.

Here is what we know!

Matchmaking Disabled

Regular game modes such as Solos, Duos, Trios, Squads, Team Rumble, Save The World, and Creative have now been disabled with just The End mode being active.

This will force all online players to take part in the event and allow maximum server capacity so no one is left out.

When does the event start?

The Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 event begins at 4 pm EST/9 pm GMT and will last for approximately 15 minutes.

What to expect

The Cube Queen has been seen above the centre of the Fortnite island for quite some time and she will finally awaken to destroy the Zero Point which will also make sure the island ceases to exist, it is our job to make sure that she doesn’t succeed.

The event should be very interactive, similar to what we’ve seen in previous events such as the Chapter 2 Season 4 Galactus event.

Following the event, the game will go into a period of downtime for approximately three days until Tuesday, December 7th when Chapter 3 will begin.

This will bring with it a brand new map, along with highly anticipated collaborations featuring Boba Fett from Star Wars, Spider-Man, and Neo and Trinity from The Matrix.

A new sliding mechanic is also set to come to the game, which should make for some interesting plays and rotation opportunities.

Fortnite is also set to migrate to Unreal Engine 5 which will improve the graphics and also allow for things such as mods to be able to come to the game in the future.
