Fortnite 21.10 update patch notes: Darth Vader, Naruto, New skins, Map changes and more

It is time for the first major update of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 as the 21.10 update is now live.
This new update brings lots of changes to the game, including adding Darth Vader as a boss, the new Super Styles, new weapons, map changes, and the highly anticipated Naruto collaboration.
Here is everything we know about the Fortnite 21.10 update.
Darth Vader has come to the Fortnite Island
Darth Vader is part of the Chapter 3 Season 3 Battle Pass and he has finally come to the Fortnite island accompanied by Stormtroopers.
Players will be able to find and defeat Darth Vader and collect Darth Vader’s Lightsaber, which can block incoming fire as well as be able to be thrown like a boomerang at enemies.
The E-11 Blasters have also returned and can be found in Imperials Chests at Vader Landing Sites and by eliminating Stormtroopers.
But, unless there’s a challenge attached to the weapon, it is unlikely most players will choose to use it as the accuracy isn’t good.
A new Naruto collaboration has been confirmed
We reported recently that a new Fortnite X Naruto collaboration was set to come to the game, and now it has been confirmed and will be landing in the Item Shop on June 23rd.
This collaboration will see more of Naruto’s friends and foes join the rest of Team 7, with four new skins being available.
These new characters will be:
- Itachi Uchiha
- Gaara
- Orochimaru
- Hinata
Each skin will come in two different styles, with one being their Rivals outfit, and there will be plenty of other cosmetics included such as back blings, Harvesting Tools, and wraps.

Naruto Challenges
From June 21st to July 7th, players will be able to unlock exclusive Naruto cosmetics by completing various challenges and unlocking badges.
Players will unlock new paths for each of the Naruto characters by performing certain actions in the game, with the aim to earn Emoticons, the Akatsuki Wrap, and the Manda Glider.
Complete any one path to earn the Akatsuki Wrap and complete all four paths to claim the final reward: the Manda Glider. It is worth noting that these will be available to purchase in the Item Shop at a later date.
To participate, head over to The Nindo website and log in with your Epic Games account. Then head to the Challenges page to get started.
During The Nindo 2022, you will be able to earn the following rewards:
- One badge in the Itachi path unlocks the Shocked Itachi Emoticon.
- One badge in the Gaara path unlocks the Focused Gaara Emoticon.
- One badge in the Hinata path unlocks the Byakugan Hinata Emoticon.
- One badge in the Orochimaru path unlocks the Orochimaru’s Smile Emoticon.
- Five badges of one path unlock 20,000 XP. You can earn up to 80,000 XP total by unlocking all five badges of all the paths.
- Ten badges of any of the paths unlock the Akatsuki Wrap.
- Complete all four paths to claim the final reward of the Manda Glider.

Chapter 3 Season 3 Battle Pass Super Styles have been released
The Super Styles in the Bonus Rewards section of the Chapter 3 Season 3 Battle Pass tab have now been made available.
These Super Styles can be unlocked as players level up beyond 100 all the way to level 200.
Each of the skins in the game, minus Darth Vader, has a Platinum Rift, Lapis Slurp, and Auric Blaze Super Styles that can be unlocked.
Ripsaw Launcher
A new weapon has been added to Fortnite in the 21.10 update called the Ripsaw Launcher. This weapon can be found at the factory north of Logjam and shoots a blade that can slice through builds, players, and vehicles.
Firework Flare Gun
The Flare Gun is back, this time as the Firework Flare Gun. This weapon can be shot in the air by a player to reveal the location of nearby enemies. It can also be used to deal damage and set builds on fire.
Tilted Towers has changed AGAIN
Tilted Towers just can’t catch a break. After having been out of the game since the end of Chapter 1 Season 8, Tilted Towers finally made a return in Chapter 3 Season 1 but it has already seen destruction numerous times since then and has to be rebuilt.
Now, Epic Games is using Tilted Towers as the location of The Block 2.0 and its construction is now taking shape.
Chapter 1 and 2 maps are taking over the game
Parts of the Fortnite Chapter 1 and 2 maps are taking over Logjam. Each game will feature a new theme to shake things up and make every match different. It is also possible that more themes could be added in future updates.
The Logjam themes that are available in the 21.10 update are:
- Atlantis (Coral Castle)
- Pirates (Lazy Lagoon)
- Roman (Colossal Coliseum)
- Wild West (Tilted Town)
Looking For Party
Finding someone to play with in Fortnite can be difficult, but the new social tags and Looking For Party option should help fix that.
You can now add social tags to your profile that other players can see. You can choose tags that express your favorite game mode(s) (2v2, Deathrun, Free For All, etc.), your gameplay vibe(s) (Chill, Mic Off, Mic On, etc.), and your preferred competitive event(s) (Cosmetic Cup, Hype Cup, Lightning Cup, etc.).
Once you have chosen your tags you will then be able to find other players in your region that have the same tags and send them an invite to play.

Visual Audio has been nerfed
Visual Audio allows players to see the footsteps of other players and the location of loot and other important aspects of the map.
This was created for deaf people and anyone hard of hearing, but many players realized its potential and use it in their own games.
Epic Games has announced that they have nerfed visual audio to lower the distance that you can see a sound effect on screen. Now, you will only be able to see something if you can actually hear it in game, which often wasn’t the case before the 21.10 update.
Reality Sapling changes
Reality Saplings are a new mechanic in Chapter 3 Season 3, allowing players to grow loot every game at a set location where you plant the Reality Sapling.
This can be great if you land at the same spot every game. Before the 21.10 update the Reality Sapling allowed you to harvest three lots of loot per match, this has now been nerfed depending on the rarity.
Reality Saplings will now grow:
- 3 fruits when Uncommon or Rare
- 2 fruits when Epic
- 1 fruit when Legendary or Mythic
