It is time for a brand new Fortnite patch, the 17.40 update, which brings with it a brand new LTM, a new weapon, huge map changes, and a lot more.

Here is everything you need to know about the Fortnite 17.40 update.

Imposters LTM

The biggest news to come from the 17.40 update is the inclusion of an Among Us style game mode called Imposters.

We have seen something similar in the past as a Creative mode, but this has been made into a full-blown game mode, which should provide a much more fun experience.

Players will be tasked with completing assignments to win the match, but be careful because Imposters walk among us (no pun intended).

Imposters will try and sabotage the work of the regular players as well as try to eliminate them.

Players will be able to vote off who they think is the Imposters, and the game will end when either the regular crew complete the assignments, or the Imposters eliminate too many players.

Epic Games described the new mode saying,

“In Impostors, players will take on the role of Agents or Impostors stationed at The Bridge. Complete Assignments like calibrating llamas and delivering Storm reports, but keep an eye out for anyone untrustworthy, because the Impostors will be sabotaging and eliminating anyone in their path. Report any dubious behavior and vote out who you think’s an Impostor, but be careful not to choose incorrectly.”

It’s unclear how long the mode will be available, but there are some challenges attached to it, so they should give you an idea.

The mode can be played by between 4-10 players and has a fill option if you’re don’t have enough friends to play with.

Imposters Challenges

Along with the new Imposters LTM is a new set of challenges. These challenges grant XP, but not very much, free is free I guess so it is hard to complain.

Imposter Mode Default Skins

Players will be able to play as Agent Jones in the Imposter mode, with his suit changing colour to differentiate between players.

Coral Castle Has Been Destroyed

We initially expected Coral Castle to be destroyed during the Season 7 event, but it looks like the POI has received the Slurpy Swamps treatment.

With the last update, Slurpy Swamps was destroyed by the Mothership, with much of it being lifted from the ground, creating many floating islands, similar to what we saw in Chapter 1 when Loot Lake rose from the ground.

Now Coral Castle is the same, this means it is likely that both of these POIs were be drastically changed when Season 8 begins next month.

Exotic Pulse Rifle

A new weapon has been added to the game in the 17.40 update, the Exotic Pulse Rifle.

The new Exotic Pulse Rifle fires in bursts of two, dealing 30 damage while hip firing and 45 damage while in ADS.

It also has a 2x multiplier for headshots, meaning players can deliver 90 damage per headshot, or 180 damage if both shots connect.

Both burst shots will also benefit from first shot accuracy, meaning if you line up a headshot it is much more likely you will hit both shots.

It can be purchased from an NPC at Coral Castle for 500 Gold.

Wild Weeks Returning

Similar to last season, Wild Weeks are making a comeback, with them changing up the loot pool by adding or changing weapons and items in the game.

According to ShiinaBR, the first Wild Week will begin on Thursday with “every Epic+ Pistol, Epic+ Assault Rifle, and all Bolt-Action Sniper Rifles will be replaced with their stealthy variants!”

Fixes

  • Fixed a Preferred Item Slots issue involving double item slot items, such as the Chug Cannon, moving to the incorrect slots when the player picked up a new item.
  • Fixed an issue involving Cosmic Chests being unopenable if a player had left the team during the match.
  • Fixed an issue that caused us to disable Prop Disguise services from vendors. These are now re-enabled.
