Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 brings the Squid Game-inspired Reload map back from October 15 to 19, 2026. Epic confirms an exclusive Squid Grounds weekend in Reload from October 15 to 19, followed by a new Ranked and Unranked rotation. It’s the first chance in a while to revisit locations such as The Labyrinth, Red Greens and Square Meals.
The map was originally released in June 2025, which is why searching for it also brings up an old tournament, Twitch Drops and Squid Game-themed cosmetics. Those promotions haven’t been confirmed for this October return. Here’s what Epic has actually announced, how the current rotation works and what players can expect from the familiar island.
Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 release date and UK time
The confirmed featured period runs from Thursday, October 15 through Monday, October 19, 2026. Epic calls it an exclusive Squid Grounds weekend, despite the dates stretching across five calendar days. It hasn’t stated an exact start or end hour in ET, UTC or BST, so any precise UK release time circulating before a new announcement remains unconfirmed.
Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 is part of Reload’s regular seasonal schedule, not a standalone download or a separate game. You can select the official Reload playlist and play during the available period. Epic’s v42.40 Reload notes say Squid Grounds is the exclusive map for that weekend. After October 19, Squid Grounds joins Unranked alongside Nitemare Island and Surf City.
Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 and the Reload map rotation
Nitemare Island: Kado’s Curse went live on October 8 alongside Stranger Things and Surf City. Epic briefly took Stranger Things out of rotation in favour of Oasis due to an issue, then confirmed the Stranger Things map had returned. The next scheduled change is Squid Grounds’ exclusive October 15–19 weekend, followed by Ranked maps Nitemare Island, Surf City and Stranger Things, and Unranked maps Squid Grounds, Nitemare Island and Surf City.
That matters for Map Mastery. Some Reload challenges are tied to a named island rather than to Reload generally. If you’ve still got Surf City-specific objectives, check whether they remain accessible before October 15. Earning eliminations on Squid Grounds won’t automatically finish a task that explicitly asks you to play on Surf City.
Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 map and original POIs

The original Squid Grounds map included ten named places: The Labyrinth, Red Greens, Square Meals, Designer Docks, Player’s Power, Affluent Arrivals, Costly Condos, Manager’s Meals, Phoney Crossroads and Hectic Hedges. Brightly coloured structures sit alongside rolling hills, the staged town sets and a maze beneath the island.
These POI names come from Epic’s original map, not a fully confirmed October 2026 layout. There’s no newly published POI-by-POI graphic for the returning version. When the island comes up in your first match, open the map and check the actual names and routes rather than assuming all 2025 chest locations are unchanged.
The Labyrinth in Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15
The Labyrinth is the most unusual location on the island. Its bright pink staircases, layered walkways and tight turns can break line of sight quickly. If your squad lands here, try to stay on the same level while gathering equipment. It’s easy to turn what should be a manageable fight into a series of isolated encounters if teammates split up between corridors.

Red Greens takes its name from the Squid Game challenge, while Square Meals is another notable original location. The surroundings may look like a competition set, but don’t assume the October 2026 event introduces a new tournament or cosmetic reward for completing a TV-style mini-game. Epic’s announcement is for the island’s return, not for a fresh Red Light Green Light prize track.
How to play Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15
Open Fortnite and choose an official Reload playlist in Discover. Join during the event window, and check which map the current rotation provides. There is no confirmed Squid Grounds-specific Creative code to enter for this event. During the October 15–19 exclusive weekend, Squid Grounds is the featured map. After October 19, check Unranked if you want another chance to play it.
Reload’s fast-paced rules continue to apply: teammates can reboot while someone in the squad survives, making early loot and team positioning important. If you’re returning mainly to explore, choose Unranked before risking a Ranked game on a route you haven’t used since last year. A short visit to the map is often enough to work out where your preferred landing spot has moved.
Does Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 have free rewards?
No new Squid Grounds-specific reward track has been confirmed for October 15 to 19. Epic has announced refreshed Map Mastery quests, Ranked cosmetics and a Kado Thorne Victory Umbrella for winning Reload matches during the wider Kado’s Curse season, but those are separate from a new Squid Grounds-only reward offer.
When Squid Grounds originally launched in June 2025, Epic promoted its themed Cup, Item Shop cosmetics and Twitch Drops. Those offers were tied to their original deadlines. The return of a map doesn’t mean the old Guard cosmetics are free or that the 2025 watch-time rewards will unlock again. Use the current Compete and Quests tabs to see what’s actually claimable.
Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 and Ranked rewards
The October 8 season update reset Reload Ranked and introduced Elite Kado Thorne-themed rewards, including the Kado-themed Axe of Unreal for reaching Unreal rank. Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 falls within this same Reload season, and Epic hasn’t announced another rank reset on October 15. Returning to the island is not, by itself, a reason for your Ranked progress to be wiped again.
Ranked and Map Mastery track different kinds of progress. Your Ranked rewards depend on reaching the relevant divisions, while Map Mastery tasks can ask for specific results on specific islands. Keep an eye on the quest panel when the rotation changes, especially if it still shows objectives from an island that has been temporarily swapped out.
When does Fortnite Squid Grounds October 15 end?
October 19 is the final confirmed date of the exclusive weekend. Epic hasn’t stated that Squid Grounds will be removed from the ordinary rotation permanently at the end of that day. It also hasn’t announced a new Squid Game Battle Pass or free Outfit for this period. Any changes to the wider rotation or Shop need a separate confirmation.
If you enjoyed the original map, the featured weekend is a good opportunity to return without committing to anything beyond an ordinary Reload match. If you’re hunting specific rewards, check the actual quest descriptions first instead of relying on last year’s Squid Grounds Cup or Twitch Drops guides.
