Fortnite HUD Missing: How to Restore Health, Minimap and Inventory

Fortnite HUD missing can make it look as though your health bar, minimap or inventory disappeared during a match. Before reinstalling anything, check whether those interface elements are disabled in Game UI settings or whether you’re in an island that deliberately changes the screen.

A hidden minimap and a completely blank HUD aren’t always the same bug. Fortnite includes many custom islands with their own interface choices, so test the normal Battle Royale experience before assuming the entire installation is broken.

Where to find the HUD controls

From the Fortnite lobby open Settings and look for the Game UI tab, where supported interface toggles are grouped. Review the available HUD options for health, map, inventory and other screen information. Turn back on anything you disabled and Apply before re-entering a match. Fortnite HUD missing after trying a clean-screen screenshot setup may simply mean an element was switched off.

Check HUD Scale if everything looks tiny

HUD Scale affects how large interface elements appear. If information is present but difficult to read, try a comfortable larger scale rather than diagnosing an absent HUD. Fortnite menus and available sliders can change by platform, so use the controls actually shown by the game. Test a match after each change; a minimap that looks tiny on a television isn’t necessarily disabled.

Fortnite HUD missing: compare Battle Royale with a Creative island

Select normal Battle Royale and check whether the health bar and minimap return. Creators can choose island interface rules that differ from standard modes. If only one creator island hides your map or inventory, the island configuration may be responsible. Fortnite HUD missing everywhere is more likely to relate to settings or a broader rendering fault than one map-specific behaviour.

Check replay and spectator mode

Replays and spectating can show different controls and overlays than live gameplay. If you’re watching a replay, don’t treat its missing combat HUD as proof your live match settings are broken. Return to the lobby and enter a new ordinary game to compare. Some camera or playback modes intentionally remove on-screen elements for cleaner footage.

Fortnite HUD missing: restore individual elements before resetting everything

If you’re missing only the minimap, look for the minimap or map visibility toggle rather than resetting every controller or sensitivity setting. If health and inventory disappear together, check the relevant Game UI selections and look for a HUD preset. The exact menu names can change, so avoid copying outdated screen coordinates from a year-old tutorial. Fortnite HUD missing shouldn’t require deleting your Epic Games account.

Troubleshoot a HUD that disappears mid-match

Restart Fortnite, check whether the issue also occurs in a fresh session and confirm there isn’t an ongoing Epic issue. On PC, verify the game installation through the Epic Games Launcher if the interface fails repeatedly in standard playlists. If the problem began immediately after an update, keep a screenshot and list the settings you changed. A visible blank space where a HUD used to be can help support reproduce the issue.

When to report a missing interface

If all Game UI elements are enabled but a normal Battle Royale match still shows no health, map or inventory, send a bug report with your platform and a screenshot. Note whether the whole HUD disappeared or only one part. Fortnite HUD missing on one custom island should be reported to its creator as well as to Epic if appropriate, rather than claiming every player has the same global bug.

Fortnite HUD missing or map and inventory keybinds not responding?

A Fortnite HUD missing problem is different from being unable to open the map or inventory using your chosen keyboard shortcuts. With the v43.00 update, Fortnite Status has acknowledged reports that Toggle Inventory and Toggle Map controls can fail to respond after rebinding. Return to the lobby to change those keybinds and start a new match; adjustments made mid-match may not work until the following match. See our Fortnite v43.00 known issues and current workarounds for the latest notice.

If the health bar, minimap and other interface elements are actually invisible even without pressing a key, use the Game UI and HUD steps above instead. Avoid resetting all your saved controls just to fix an isolated Toggle Map or Toggle Inventory problem.
