The Fortnite Honey Sprite is live after joining Chapter 7 Season 4 in v42.40 on October 15. Equip it, damage an enemy with a ranged weapon and your hit has a chance to spawn bees where the shot lands.
Pumpkin Chests are the best place to start during Fortnitemares because Epic uses them to spread the seasonal Sprites around the Island. Honey can appear through the active Sprite loot pool, so there is no one chest or map coordinate that produces it every match.
How to get Fortnite Honey Sprite

Prioritise Pumpkin Chests while the Fortnitemares pool is active. Honey is one of the October 15 Sprite additions, and those seasonal chests are built around handing out Sprites from the current event pool.
If a Pumpkin Chest gives you something else, move on and keep searching. The Fortnite Honey Sprite comes from a random pool rather than a fixed chest that always gives the same Sprite.
How the Honey Sprite bee attack works
Carry the Fortnite Honey Sprite and land ranged-weapon damage. Every qualifying hit can roll the bee effect, spawning the swarm at the point your shot connected.
The effect is automatic. Honey no longer waits for an enemy to damage you first, and there is no extra ability input to trigger once a fight starts.
Does Honey work with every ranged weapon?
Epic’s live wording names ranged weapon damage as the trigger without listing individual gun exclusions. Use the ranged weapon you already hit reliably with and watch the impact area for the bees.
A fast-firing weapon creates more successful hit events than a slow single-shot gun if your aim is consistent, which means more opportunities for Honey’s chance-based effect to roll. Epic has not published the percentage attached to each hit.
Fortnite Honey Sprite bee damage and cooldown
Epic has not published the bee damage, activation chance or cooldown for the Fortnite Honey Sprite. v42.40 confirms the ranged-hit trigger and where the swarm appears, but leaves the underlying numbers out of the patch notes.
The live version also corrects the earlier promotional description. Honey had previously been described as retaliating after you took damage; the October 15 ability instead reacts to ranged damage you deal.

Honey Sprite variants
Honey sits inside the same Chapter 7 Season 4 collection as the rest of the Sprite roster, with its special forms tracked as separate collection entries. The collection screen shows which Honey variants are live and which ones you have extracted already.
The October 17 Trick or Treat Power Hour increases Trick or Treat variant appearances. If the Halloween Honey form is missing from your tracker, that event gives you a better window to hunt it.
Honey Sprite vs One Wish Willow
| Sprite | Main ability |
|---|---|
| Fortnite Honey Sprite | Chance to spawn bees where ranged weapon damage lands |
| One Wish Willow Sprite | Takes equipped Sprites from eliminated enemies and knocks nearby enemies away when damaged |
Pick Honey when you want a Sprite that can add pressure to ordinary ranged fights. One Wish Willow plays differently, rewarding eliminations against Sprite users and pushing nearby enemies away after you take damage.
How to use Honey Sprite effectively
Keep the Fortnite Honey Sprite equipped and play your ranged fights normally. Landing shots is what creates chances for the bee effect, so accuracy matters more than trying to force a hidden input or special combo.
Honey was created by community Design A Sprite winner Conejito_sam. For its actual in-game behaviour, use the October 15 v42.40 rules rather than the older pre-release version of the ability.
