Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map captures the citadel, anvil square and a reforged island at the start of the season. Fortnite Chapter 4 began with an island assembled after Fracture, the event that destroyed the previous one. Medieval-looking towns, snowy mountains and green fields existed side by side, giving the new map a clear identity from the start.

The original island image below comes from Fortnite update v23.00. It shows the layout when the season began, rather than combining later map patches into a single illustration. The comparison boxes further down let you see how much the terrain changed from the previous season.

Which Chapter 4 Season 1 locations were new?

The Citadel stood on high ground, while Anvil Square was a compact settlement with houses and streets. Brutal Bastion sat in the snow and Faulty Splits mixed different-looking neighbourhoods. Shattered Slabs added an industrial quarry setting.

The map introduced the Oathbound storyline and a range of new movement options. Its steep elevation changes made the routes between the Citadel, the snowy areas and central towns feel different from the flatter parts of the previous chapter.

Chapter 3 ended with Chrome spreading through its landscape. Chapter 4 replaced that island with a new layout where medieval architecture and snowy terrain were there from the beginning.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map: Why this version stands out

The original Chapter 4 island was notable for how dramatically its architecture varied. The Citadel and Anvil Square looked as though they belonged in a fantasy world, while Brutal Bastion was set against icy mountains. The Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map captures all of those environments before Mega City existed, making it a valuable starting point for the chapter.

What happened after this version of the map?

Season 2 later brought Mega City and a huge Japanese-inspired expansion to the southeast. That area is absent from this original v23.00 map.

The season-opening version above is a historical reference, not a claim that the island stopped changing after the first patch. Fortnite frequently altered individual locations during the season. You may see differences in gameplay from later updates even when the map is labelled with the same season number.
