Eternatus Pokémon GO returns during Dynamax Trails from 16 to 23 November 2026. The event’s free GO Pass gives you a regular Eternatus encounter if you haven’t caught one before, or 100 Eternatus Candy if you already own it. Eternamax Eternatus also appears in Max Battles on 21 November, but you cannot catch that boss after winning.

Your catchable Eternatus comes from the GO Pass. The enormous Eternamax battle is for collecting Candy and Candy XL to power up the Pokémon you own or receive from the pass.

GO Pass: Dynamax Trails starts Monday 16 November at 10:00am local time. Earn GO Points by completing its tasks and claim the reward rank with an Eternatus encounter. If your account has already caught Eternatus, the encounter is replaced by 100 Candy instead.

The pass runs until Monday 23 November at 8:00pm local time, but unlocked rewards remain claimable until Wednesday 25 November at 8:00pm. These are different deadlines: finish earning points first, then collect every unlocked reward before the claim window closes.

Eternatus Pokémon GO: free Deluxe upgrade and early access

You can get Deluxe without paying: claim the Tier 1 reward on GO Pass: Into the Wild. This unlocks early Dynamax Trails access from Saturday 14 November at 10:00am local time and grants the free Deluxe upgrade. Reaching the tier alone isn’t enough; make sure you claim it.

Otherwise, GO Pass Deluxe: Dynamax Trails costs US$4.99 or the equivalent local price. Deluxe adds more Eternatus Candy, Candy XL and other rewards. The free pass still offers the essential Eternatus encounter, so paying isn’t necessary to unlock the Pokémon.

Eternatus Pokémon GO: Eternamax battle time and catch rules

Eternamax Eternatus takes over the majority of Power Spots on Saturday 21 November between 11:00am and 2:00pm local time. In the UK that’s 11:00am–2:00pm GMT. This three-hour window is the time to coordinate with other Max Battle players.

You do not get an Eternamax Eternatus catch screen after beating it. Winning awards a large amount of Eternatus Candy and Candy XL instead, which are used to strengthen your own Eternatus. The battle form isn’t an evolution you unlock by spending Candy.

Eternatus Pokémon GO: weaknesses and Max Battle preparation

Eternatus is Poison- and Dragon-type, making it weak to Dragon, Ground, Ice and Psychic attacks. Only eligible Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon can enter a Max Battle, so don’t simply copy a normal raid team into the three-hour Eternamax event.

Bring developed Max Pokémon with useful Max Moves, and plan a group rather than assuming a solo battle. During the Eternamax window, Power Spots refresh more frequently, the daily Max Particle collection limit rises to 2,400, and Power Spots award eight times the usual Max Particles.

How to power up Eternatus Pokémon GO with Candy and Candy XL

Eternatus has unusually high Candy and Candy XL power-up requirements. Both free and Deluxe GO Pass rewards contribute, and the 21 November Max Battles provide large additional amounts. If you already caught Eternatus before November, those rewards are the reason to take part again.

The pass also contains Dynamax encounters with Special Backgrounds, Stardust, Rare Candy and themed stickers. Rank 15 unlocks double catch Stardust; Rank 35 reduces the Candy and Stardust cost of the Dynamax Cannon Adventure Effect; Rank 55 boosts Max Battle Candy and Candy XL.

Can Eternatus Pokémon GO be Shiny in the November event?

Shiny Eternatus has not been released in Pokémon GO, and the November Dynamax Trails announcement does not introduce it. Other Dynamax Pokémon may have Shiny encounters, but that doesn’t make the Eternatus pass reward Shiny-eligible. Our Shiny Eternatus guide explains the difference.

What else happens during Dynamax Trails?

From 16–23 November, more Power Spots appear and non-Legendary, non-Mythical Dynamax Pokémon from earlier Max Battles can return. Wild catches and completed Max Battles can award extra Max Particles. Catches made through Pokémon GO Plus + or the Explorer Gadget don’t qualify for the wild-catch Particle chance.

If Eternatus Pokémon GO rewards are your priority, work through the GO Pass first and save 21 November for the Candy XL battles. Claim every unlocked reward by 25 November at 8:00pm local time.
