The 2023 LCS Spring Split day 12 is here, and that means that the second round robin has started. With FlyQuest solidly in the lead with ten wins and only one loss on their record, they have first place all but secured at this point. The only question is, who will finish second place?

So far the contenders as of the 2023 LCS Spring Split day twelve are the expected teams in Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses, but there has been a surprise, dark horse candidate in Golden Guardians. As of last week, they have had the longest winning streak so far this split with seven games in a row. Can they keep up their winning streak, or are they destined to fall today?

The other two teams that were expected to be fighting for the top spots, Team Liquid Honda and 100 Thieves, have both failed to live up to expectations so far. It has been a combination of drafting issues and problems with their play in-game respectively. Can they get back on track during the second round robin, or will they continue to slide down the standings after the 2023 LCS Spring Split day twelve is said and done?

Coming into the 2023 LCS Spring Split, there was a lot of hype around many teams, but one team stood out from the rest, and that was 100 Thieves. They had the two GOATS of the LCS, Doublelift, and Bjergsen, reuniting after their time on TSM joining forces with Closer and two rookies from the 100 Thieves academy team.

The first week of the split was rough, ending with one win and one loss, but never really showed up against the stronger teams in the league. They always performed well against the lower-ranked teams in the LCS, but could never win against the top teams, such as FlyQuest and Cloud9.

Progressively it has gotten worse for the team, with poor drafting and poor play leading to their mediocre record. Today was no better. Their draft was full scaling with no early game, leading to Cloud9 snowballing out of control and smashing 100 Thieves, not letting them get any momentum in the slightest, similar to how their first watch was at the beginning of the split.

If 100 Thieves want to prove that they are one of the best teams in the LCS, they need to change everything. They can’t always play slowly and for scaling, there are too many teams this year that are willing to play for the early to mid-game and have the player skill to pull it off against them. They have to prove that they can play for the early game and play a variety of styles, otherwise, they will keep sliding down the standings and eventually be out of the 2023 Spring Playoffs.
