Dead by Daylight Buccaneer Buds Charm is a PlayStation Plus-exclusive reward linked to a community challenge running October 20–26, 2026. Players need to collectively complete ten million Dead by Daylight matches before the special pack becomes available. It isn’t a charm you unlock by personally winning ten games.
The design features survivor Jeff Johansen and his rescue dog wearing matching pirate costumes. Sony announced the offer as part of HorrorFest alongside other member perks, but the Buccaneer Buds Charm has a condition that the other downloadable packs don’t: the community target must be reached first.
Dead by Daylight Buccaneer Buds Charm: Challenge dates and the 10-million-match goal
The community challenge begins October 20 and ends October 26. The target is ten million completed matches across participating Dead by Daylight players, not ten million individual match wins or sacrifices. Sony hasn’t specified a minimum personal contribution in its October 14 announcement.
Because the target is shared, don’t assume your account will receive the reward immediately after your first completed match. The Dead by Daylight Buccaneer Buds Charm pack only becomes available when the overall community finishes the challenge.
What does the Buccaneer Buds Charm look like?
Sony describes a pirate-themed cosmetic charm featuring Jeff Johansen and his rescue dog in matching outfits. This is a cosmetic reward, not a perk affecting survivor speed, killer abilities or Bloodpoints earned in a match.
Dead by Daylight Buccaneer Buds Charm is a special PlayStation Plus pack item; don’t confuse it with a charm from the regular Rift, an event Tome, or a reward you purchase using Iridescent Shards.
How to claim the PlayStation Plus reward
If the community completes ten million matches, Sony will unlock an exclusive pack for PlayStation Plus members. Sign into the PlayStation account with an eligible subscription, open the PlayStation Store or the PlayStation Plus exclusive packs area and look for the Dead by Daylight pack once Sony confirms the unlock.
Select the pack and follow the Store’s claim or download option, then open Dead by Daylight and check the available charms in the cosmetic customisation menu. The Dead by Daylight Buccaneer Buds Charm isn’t confirmed as an automatic inventory deposit before the community goal is met.
Which PlayStation Plus membership do you need?
Sony says the unlocked pack is available to all PlayStation Plus members. That means the reward isn’t restricted to Extra or Premium simply because Dead by Daylight itself is currently available through those higher-tier catalogs.
An Essential membership can qualify for the member offer, but doesn’t automatically give full access to Dead by Daylight through the rotating Extra and Premium Game Catalog. You still need the game through a purchase or another valid entitlement if you want to play it.
What if the reward is missing on October 20?
On October 20 the challenge starts; the pack hasn’t necessarily been unlocked. The community has until October 26 to hit the match total, so seeing no pack on the first day is normal. Check the official challenge progress rather than assuming the Store is broken.
If the goal succeeds and the pack later appears for others, confirm your PlayStation Plus membership and that you’re browsing the correct platform Store listing. The Dead by Daylight Buccaneer Buds Charm reward is a conditional offer, so the availability date depends on the community result.
Can you unlock the charm on another platform?
The announced pack is explicitly a PlayStation Plus exclusive. Playing Dead by Daylight elsewhere doesn’t independently provide a Store entitlement through Sony, even if cross-progression arrangements are active on your Behaviour account.
For the Dead by Daylight Buccaneer Buds Charm, the confirmed claim path is PlayStation Plus once the challenge succeeds.
