Clash Royale Chaos Draft runs from October 19 to November 2, 2026. It combines card drafting with the upgrades from Supercell’s C.H.A.O.S mode. Blackout runs alongside it until October 26, so select the Draft playlist if you want to build from the cards offered during the event.
If you played the original C.H.A.O.S mode earlier this year, you’ll recognise the idea: the cards you bring into battle can change as you select modifiers, making the same troop behave differently from one match to the next. October’s season adds 20 more C.H.A.O.S cards to the wider pool, as well as a secret badge called Alternating Currents.
When does Clash Royale Chaos Draft start and end?
The Clash Royale Chaos Draft event began on Monday, October 19 and ends on Monday, November 2. It is one of three C.H.A.O.S variants listed on the official Shocktober calendar.

The last row is a separate competitive event, not the October 26 C.H.A.O.S playlist. If you want the tournament badge, make sure you are entering the Global Tournament rather than a regular C.H.A.O.S battle.
How to play Clash Royale Chaos Draft
Open the game-mode selector and choose C.H.A.O.S Draft. Pick cards from the offered options rather than bringing your normal ladder deck. During the match, C.H.A.O.S modifier choices can strengthen individual cards for the remainder of the battle.
Supercell’s published C.H.A.O.S rules say each prompt offers two modifiers for one card. Your selection lasts for the rest of that match. If the countdown ends before you choose, the left modifier is selected automatically.
How Clash Royale Chaos Draft modifiers work
Modifiers can transform how a card performs, and they come in Common, Rare and Epic tiers. Higher rarities generally bring more dramatic effects. The October season introduces 20 additional cards to its C.H.A.O.S line-up, expanding the combinations you can encounter.
Before choosing a modifier, look at the troop it affects and your current attack plan. A defensive card needs an improvement that helps it stop pushes reliably; a win-condition card needs to survive long enough to pressure towers. The flashiest-looking choice isn’t necessarily the one that helps the match you’re actually playing.
How to choose the right cards in Clash Royale Chaos Draft
In Clash Royale Chaos Draft, choose a tower-damage threat, then fill the gaps it leaves. If your draft already contains a ground attacker but no answer to air troops, take an anti-air option over another ground-only unit. If you have plenty of damage but no answer to swarms, a splash attacker or small spell becomes more valuable.
Watch your elixir curve as well. An expensive win condition needs affordable support. If two offered cards fill a similar role, the cheaper one may help you defend and cycle back to a modified attacker without getting stuck with an unplayable hand.
Your best modifier also changes with the match. If the opponent keeps breaking through, strengthen the defender that’s failing. If your main attacker reaches the tower consistently, an offensive upgrade can finish the job faster. There is no single best modifier for every draft because your offered cards and your opponent’s deck change between battles.
What happens if you skip a Clash Royale Chaos Draft modifier?
In Supercell’s published C.H.A.O.S rules, allowing the choice timer to run out automatically selects the left option. You therefore shouldn’t rely on waiting to keep a card unchanged. Make your selection before time expires whenever possible, especially if one upgrade could interfere with your plan.
Read both upgrades before the timer ends. In Clash Royale Chaos Draft, an automatic left-hand choice can leave you with a less useful effect than the one you intended.
Clash Royale Chaos Draft and the Alternating Currents badge
Supercell has confirmed a secret Alternating Currents badge during Shocktober, but has not disclosed an unlock combination. It may involve C.H.A.O.S gameplay, so the Draft mode is worth exploring, but winning one match or picking a particular modifier is not a verified method.
Clash Royale has used secret badges in earlier C.H.A.O.S rotations, so there may be more involved than simply winning a single Draft match. The badge is distinct from the top-10,000 Leaderboard Finisher Badge attached to the Power Surge Global Tournament.
