Brawl Stars Gem Fragments: How They Work and What They Give

Brawl Stars Gem Fragments are bonus progression rewards found while opening Brawler Blast. Each target you knock down has a chance to reveal between one and four fragments, and the fragments you collect are converted into Power Levels or upgrades for the Brawler you unlock at the end.

The useful thing to understand about Brawl Stars Gem Fragments is that the number revealed by an individual target controls the reward type. One fragment always means a Power Level, while larger fragment results can open the door to Gadgets, Gears, Star Powers, Hypercharges and Buffies.

What Brawl Stars Gem Fragments can give

FragmentsPossible reward
1+1 Power Level
2+2 Power Levels, random Gadget, or random Super Rare Gear
3+3 Power Levels or random Star Power
4+4 Power Levels, Hypercharge, or random Buffie

Those are the official conversion options for Brawl Stars Gem Fragments. A two-fragment reveal does not mean you always get two Power Levels, for example. It can instead become a Gadget or a Super Rare Gear. The same principle applies to three and four fragments, where the reward can branch into a more valuable ability upgrade.

How you find Gem Fragments in Brawler Blast

When Brawler Blast starts, the game presents 10 targets. As targets are knocked down, each one has the same chance to reveal fragments. This includes blank targets that appear when you have fewer than 10 unowned Brawlers in the current rarity.

You keep knocking targets down until the final Brawler remains. After that Brawler is unlocked, the collected Brawl Stars Gem Fragments are converted into progression for that new Brawler. The fragments are therefore tied to the same opening rather than becoming a currency you save and spend later.

How many Gem Fragments can one opening give?

Supercell publishes total-fragment odds for a complete Brawler Blast opening. The most common single total is four fragments at 20.04%. Three fragments are listed at 16.03%, while two and five are each 14.03%. One fragment has a 12.02% chance and six has a 10.02% chance.

Higher totals are progressively rarer. Seven is 6.01%, eight is 2.20%, nine is 1.80% and 10 is 1.00%. Totals from 11 through 17 are all below 1%, apart from none of them exceeding 0.80%. The published table reaches a maximum listed total of 17 Brawl Stars Gem Fragments.

Opening limits still apply

A strong fragment opening cannot stack unlimited copies of the same upgrade. Brawler Blast has a maximum of one Gadget, one Gear, one Star Power, one Hypercharge and one Buffie in a single opening. It also caps bonus Power Levels at +10.

That matters when reading the Brawl Stars Gem Fragments reward table. The table describes what a fragment result can convert into, while the opening limits control the maximum amount of each upgrade category that can be awarded across the whole opening.

Can fragments give upgrades before the required Power Level?

Yes. Supercell states that Brawler Blast can award Gears, Gadgets, Star Powers, Hypercharges and Buffies before the new Brawler has reached the Power Level normally required to use them. The upgrade can sit on the Brawler before it is usable.

There is one release restriction. A Brawler cannot receive a Hypercharge or Buffie from Brawl Stars Gem Fragments until that Brawler has been fully released. An early-access Brawler is therefore excluded from those two reward types until the normal release happens.

Are Gem Fragments the same as Gems?

No. Despite the name, Gem Fragments are not the premium green Gem currency. They are temporary progression results inside Brawler Blast and are converted after the Brawler unlock. You do not add them to a wallet, spend them in the Shop or carry them into a later opening.

In short, Brawl Stars Gem Fragments make a Brawler Blast opening more than a simple unlock. Every removed target can improve the final Brawler, with higher fragment reveals offering access to stronger progression rewards.

What to check after a fragment-heavy opening

After a strong opening, do not judge the result only by the Brawler’s visible Power Level. Brawl Stars Gem Fragments can also have awarded an ability that you cannot use yet because the Brawler has not reached its normal Power Level requirement. Open the Brawler’s upgrade screen and check owned Gadgets, Gears, Star Powers, Hypercharges and Buffies before assuming the fragments only produced levels.

This is especially important when several fragment reveals appeared during the same gallery. The opening-wide limits prevent duplicate categories from stacking endlessly, but a single opening can still leave the new Brawler with more than one different type of progression reward.
