Deadlock Halloween Cauldrons: How to Get Candy and Sugar Rush

Deadlock Halloween Cauldrons are bubbling pots dotted along Manhattan’s streets during the game’s Halloween event. Hit one with a Heavy Melee, pick up the Candy and save it until you’re ready to use its temporary Sugar Rush energy boost.

Valve added the cauldrons on 30 October 2026, and they’re available through Monday, 2 November. You can find them during ordinary matches, alongside the pumpkins and decorations covering the city. Here’s the quickest way to collect Candy before the event ends.

Where to find Deadlock Halloween Cauldrons

Keep an eye out while walking along the streets of Manhattan. The event adds bubbling cauldrons filled with sweets to the city, so they’re something you can encounter on your normal journey between lanes and objectives.

Look for an actual cauldron rather than a plain pumpkin or Halloween prop. The cauldron is the object you can break for Candy; the seasonal decorations elsewhere don’t give you the same interaction. You won’t find Candy by walking around the newly decorated Hideout.

Valve hasn’t published a list of specific cauldron coordinates or an interval between appearances, so the useful advice is to watch the streets as you play. There’s no need to abandon your lane every time you want a treat. A cauldron you pass on a safe rotation is the easiest one to collect.

How to break a cauldron and collect Candy

Walk up to a bubbling cauldron and use a Heavy Melee attack. That breaks it open and lets you pick up a piece of Candy. Simply running past the object or trying to interact with it like a shop isn’t the method shown in Valve’s announcement.

You can then stash the Candy for later. Breaking a cauldron doesn’t automatically use your treat, so you can collect one while you’re travelling and activate it when you want the benefit.

The Deadlock Halloween Cauldrons are a small seasonal extra, not a replacement for collecting Souls or fighting objectives. If somebody is pushing your lane, deal with the threat first. It’s better to miss a sweet than to stand exposed winding up a melee attack while an opponent is shooting at you.

What does the Sugar Rush buff do?

Eating Halloween Candy gives your hero a temporary buff called Sugar Rush. Valve describes it as a boost of energy, and you choose when to eat the Candy you’ve collected.

It’s separate from the stamina-regeneration improvement made to Steam Vents in the same update. Steam Vents now increase stamina regeneration by 150%; that number does not describe Sugar Rush. Valve’s Halloween notes don’t give Candy a stated regeneration percentage or duration.

Because you can carry the treat, there’s no pressure to consume it immediately. Save it for a moment when extra energy could help, such as moving between objectives or committing to a fight. That’s more useful than using it simply because you found a pot.

When do Deadlock Halloween Cauldrons leave the game?

Monday, 2 November 2026 is the final date Valve gives for the Halloween festivities. The notice doesn’t include an exact global switch-off hour, so players in different regions should treat November 2 as the advertised end date rather than assuming a particular local midnight.

The celebrations also give the Hideout a spooky makeover, put masks on the Heroes and spread pumpkins around the streets. Those are cosmetic touches; the Candy mechanic itself happens when you find and break cauldrons during matches.

Is the Halloween Candy tied to the other patch changes?

The event arrived with a much larger Deadlock update, but you don’t need to defeat the Mid-Boss or collect Rejuvenators before you can find Candy. They are separate systems.

The Mid-Boss Rejuvenator change replaces one central crystal with three separate pickups, each claimed using Heavy Melee. Our October 30 patch notes also cover Haunts, the comeback economy and Hero adjustments.

If you haven’t tried the event yet, make Deadlock Halloween Cauldrons a quick stop during your next match: spot the bubbling pot, break it with Heavy Melee, collect the Candy and save Sugar Rush for when you’ll actually use it. The limited-time activity ends on November 2.
