Deadlock The Broker: Locations, Spawn Time and Corrupted Items

Deadlock The Broker is a temporary City Never Sleeps merchant with two stalls positioned between mid and the side lanes. His first Corrupted Item stock normally appears around the 30-minute mark, with additional Corrupted Items becoming available roughly every 15 minutes after that while the event merchant remains active.

The catch with Deadlock The Broker is that he does not sell ordinary upgrades. You exchange a high-tier item you already own for a stronger Corrupted version, and every Corrupted Item carries a negative attribute rolled from a predefined drawback pool.

Where to find Deadlock The Broker

Deadlock The Broker has two stalls on the City Never Sleeps map, positioned between the middle of the map and the side lanes. The rebuilt New York layout places them off the main lane routes rather than inside a normal shop.

Use the minimap and the new district callouts to route toward the central side-lane corridors. The Broker is designed as a mid-to-late-match detour rather than something you visit during the opening lane phase.

What time does The Broker open?

The first stock for Deadlock The Broker appears around 30:00. Valve deliberately describes the exact arrival time as variable, so do not treat 30:00 as a frame-perfect guaranteed spawn.

If the stall is not ready exactly at thirty minutes, keep playing and check again shortly afterwards. The event is built around approximate shipments rather than a single fixed shop timer.

How often does The Broker restock?

After the first shipment, Deadlock The Broker makes additional Corrupted Items available on average every 15 minutes.

That creates natural check points around the 45-minute and 60-minute range in a long match, although Valve’s wording again leaves room for small timing variation.

What items can The Broker corrupt?

Deadlock The Broker works with Tier 3 and Tier 4 shop items. Current game data contains 90 eligible Corrupted Items split across 30 Weapon items, 31 Vitality items and 29 Spirit items.

You need to own the normal high-tier item before exchanging it. The Broker does not let you skip directly from an empty slot to a Corrupted Tier 4 item.

How the exchange works

At Deadlock The Broker, choose an eligible item you already own and exchange it for the Corrupted version while stock is available. The Corrupted version improves the item’s positive effects, often by a large amount.

Valve’s public event page does not list a separate Soul price for every exchange, so the important guaranteed requirement is ownership of the eligible high-tier item and access to the current shipment.

What is the Corrupted Item drawback?

Every item from Deadlock The Broker comes with a downside. The negative attribute is randomly selected from a predefined pool, while both the positive boost and negative value can vary within a small range.

The roll is shared by everyone in the same match. If one Corrupted item has a particular drawback in your game, another player looking at the same item sees the same match-specific roll rather than an entirely separate personal version.

Can every item roll every drawback?

No. Although Deadlock The Broker uses a shared drawback pool, individual Corrupted Items can exclude certain negatives where the combination would not make sense.

That is why the item tooltip matters more than memorizing one generic drawback table. Check the exact positive and negative changes before confirming the exchange.

How long does The Broker stay?

Deadlock The Broker is explicitly temporary. Valve says he leaves once the first new City Never Sleeps hero arrives on October 2 at 2:00 p.m. PT.

If you are reading after that first hero release, the two stalls may no longer be active in Standard matches. The Broker page remains useful for understanding the event mechanic and Corrupted Item system, while Street Brawl still has a separate Corrupted Item reward in Round 5.

Should you always corrupt a Tier 4 item?

No. Deadlock The Broker can create enormous upgrades, but a bad drawback can attack the exact stat your build depends on. Losing Spirit Power on a Spirit-heavy hero or Weapon Damage on a gun build can offset much of the benefit.

Read both sides of the tooltip and compare the item against your current build before exchanging. A Corrupted item is stronger in one direction, not automatically better for every hero and every match.

The Broker summary

Deadlock The Broker appears at two temporary stalls between mid and the side lanes, starts stocking around 30 minutes and adds more Corrupted Item opportunities roughly every 15 minutes.

Bring an eligible Tier 3 or Tier 4 item, inspect the shared match roll carefully and remember that the Broker is a limited City Never Sleeps merchant rather than a permanent new shop.
