VALORANT Performance Score: How Map Rating and Accolades Changed in 13.09

VALORANT Map Rating guide Performance Score post-match display from Riot

VALORANT Performance Score tracks what you contribute during a match, not just how many kills appear beside your name. Riot brought the system into VALORANT with Patch 13.06, and Patch 13.09 on 27 October 2026 has made its results easier to read while adjusting related Map Rating and Accolade rules.

The biggest change for Hush players is how the game evaluates utility. Riot is tuning the Agent’s early scores, while a new Learn More screen makes the match breakdown clearer. The update also changes the weight of your best match in Map Rating and raises the First Blood Accolade threshold.

VALORANT Performance Score: What does the number measure?

VALORANT Performance Score runs from 0 to 500. Riot introduced it in Patch 13.06 to give a fuller view of match impact than damage and kills alone. It recognises the contributions of different roles and Agents, including utility and the way players support a round.

The score determines scoreboard order and Match MVP in Competitive, Unrated, Swiftplay and Premier. It isn’t your Rank Rating, and it doesn’t replace the results of a won or lost match. Open the End of Game breakdown to see what contributed to your number.

What changed in Patch 13.09?

Riot’s October update adds a new Learn More screen explaining VALORANT Performance Score, plus additional detail in the End of Game pages. On PC, you can now hover over trades on the scoreboard to get a clearer description. The hover-text improvement is specifically listed as PC-only, so don’t expect identical mouse interactions on a controller.

The new Hush Agent is the first addition to the roster since Performance Score was introduced in September. Riot expects that her scores may feel uneven during the early days while it adjusts how successful use of her new telekinetic abilities is valued. That’s a tuning note for a new Agent, not an announced bonus or penalty for choosing Hush.

Why Hush’s early Performance Scores may feel different

Hush can reposition utility in midair and disrupt opponents with Displacement, Flashbulb and Suspension. Those contributions aren’t always as obvious as a kill on the scoreboard, which is why Riot’s VALORANT Performance Score system looks at a broader picture. The developer is tuning her utility measurements while players learn the kit.

The post-match breakdown remains the best place to understand a Hush result. Look at the performance details alongside your kills, assists and the utility you used during the round. Riot’s note is about tuning this new Agent, not a separate modifier players need to activate.

How Performance Score affects Map Rating

Map Rating is a separate measure of your performance on each map, shown as a 0-500 rating and C-to-S grade. Riot introduced it in Patch 13.08, using overall win rate, attacking win rate, defending win rate and VALORANT Performance Score as its four main inputs. Recent games matter more than older ones.

Patch 13.09 makes your Act Best Match more important within the Map Rating calculation. The aim is to reflect your standout performance as well as consistency across the Act. Riot hasn’t published the new percentage weighting, so statements about a fixed number of extra Map Rating points would be misleading.

A higher VALORANT Performance Score can help your Map Rating, but wins and your results on both attacking and defending halves also count. Map Rating is available in Competitive and Premier; you can view your grade in Agent Select, End of Game and Career. Riot says those map grades aren’t visible to other players.

First Blood Accolade threshold in 13.09

Riot also adjusted the First Blood Accolade. It appeared too often under the old requirement, so it now takes a stronger performance to earn. The developer did not publish the new numerical threshold, and it has explicitly said that the change does not remove Accolades you’ve already earned. Your historical total remains intact.

Accolades mark standout performances in Competitive and Premier, tracking your best results for the current Act and your lifetime since Patch 13.06. The First Blood threshold is now harder to meet, but Riot says your previously earned Accolades are unaffected. They aren’t the same thing as your match’s Performance Score.

Where to find your score and match breakdown

To see your VALORANT Performance Score, complete a supported match, open the End of Game results and select the Performance Score detail. You’ll find a breakdown of your performance rather than only the headline number. The interface was refreshed in Patch 13.09 with better explanations, including the new Learn More screen.

You can also use the scoreboard to check trades. On PC, hover over the relevant entry to see the additional text. If you are playing on console, use the End of Game information that is available through the controller interface; Riot’s patch notes do not promise the same PC-only hover interaction.

Is Performance Score the same as ACS or Rank Rating?

No. VALORANT Performance Score replaced Average Combat Score for scoreboard positioning and MVP decisions in the supported modes, but it isn’t your Competitive Rank Rating (RR). Riot’s 0-500 scale describes match performance; your competitive progress still has its own ranking rules. And Map Rating is another separate score tied to individual maps.

The useful way to read a score is to look at the full match breakdown, not a kill total in isolation. A strong performance can include important trades, damage and utility contributions alongside eliminations. The new Learn More screen makes those parts easier to explore.

Common questions

What is the maximum VALORANT Performance Score? Riot’s scale runs from 0 to 500. Does Hush receive a special bonus? No such bonus is announced; her utility contribution is being tuned. Will my old First Blood Accolades be deleted? No. Has Riot given the new Map Rating formula? It has confirmed the stronger Act Best Match effect, but not the exact new weighting.

Patch 13.09 is mostly about making VALORANT Performance Score easier to understand after a match and refining how the broader competitive systems present your results. Hush’s early results may take some tuning, but the best starting point remains the official score breakdown and your own map-by-map record.
