Stellar Blade Switch 2 Physical vs Digital comes down to one big difference: the physical version contains the full game on a cartridge, while the digital version needs a 25.3 GB download. SHIFT UP confirms the boxed release uses a proper game card, not a game-key card.

Both formats include Stellar Blade Complete Edition, with the NieR:Automata and GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE collaborations. The digital UK edition is £54.99 and unlocks at 3 PM GMT on Thursday, 5 November. Here’s how the two formats compare on ownership, storage and bonuses.

The Stellar Blade Switch 2 Physical vs Digital choice doesn’t change the campaign or combat. Both formats include the same collaborations and support handheld, tabletop and TV modes.

Stellar Blade Switch 2 Physical vs Digital: Is It a Game-Key Card?

No. SHIFT UP confirms the full base game is stored on the Switch 2 cartridge. A game-key card would require a full download before you could play, but Stellar Blade’s physical edition isn’t one of those.

Insert the cartridge to play, and keep it in the console whenever you launch the game. Later patches can still use storage, but the base game doesn’t require a separate full download.

Stellar Blade Switch 2 Physical vs Digital Download Size

Nintendo UK’s current store page lists 25.3 GB for Complete Edition. Leave some extra free space for installation and updates, rather than filling your storage to exactly that amount. Digital buyers can use their console’s internal storage or a compatible microSD Express card.

The cartridge saves you the initial full-game download. Digital is more convenient if you switch between several games, because you won’t have to swap cards.

Stellar Blade Switch 2 Physical vs Digital: Is the DLC the Same?

Yes. Complete Edition includes the main adventure, NieR:Automata collaboration, GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE collaboration and the eight Stargazer extras. These include cosmetics for EVE, Adam and Lily, a Drone pack, 2,000 SP EXP and 5,000 Gold.

There are also four free Bayonetta-inspired outfits coming on launch day. Those same costumes are free on PS5 and PC, and they’re not an exclusive bonus for either the Switch 2 cartridge or the digital edition.

Certain crossover activities open through normal story progression in both versions. Buying the cartridge doesn’t change when those quests or outfits become accessible.

Stellar Blade Switch 2 Physical vs Digital Preorders

Both physical and digital copies can be preordered. Nintendo UK advertises early unlocks for Planet Diving Suit (White Edition), Classic Round Glasses and Ear Armour Earrings, with its online preorder cutoff at 2:59 PM GMT on 5 November.

For physical purchases, check the participating retailer’s specific terms for delivery of preorder bonuses. The three cosmetics are separate from the eight included Complete Edition extras and the free Bayonetta collaboration.

Is the SteelBook Part of Every Physical Copy?

No. SHIFT UP also offers a limited SteelBook with exclusive artwork through selected retailers. It’s a separate collectible edition, not a guarantee that every ordinary boxed game contains a steel case. Some regional SteelBook listings use a 6 November retail date.

The SteelBook is collectible packaging, not an upgraded version of the game. You’re still choosing between a full cartridge and a digital copy of the same software.

Should You Buy Physical or Digital?

Choose the cartridge if you want a boxed copy and to avoid the initial 25.3 GB download. Digital is a better fit if you want everything installed and prefer switching games without handling cards.

If you’re weighing Stellar Blade Switch 2 Physical vs Digital, there isn’t a different campaign or bonus outfit set to consider. The full cartridge is the physical version’s selling point; the UK eShop edition unlocks at 3 PM GMT on 5 November.
