Dune Awakening Infected Enemies: Where to Find Each Type

Dune Awakening 1.5 problems official Dune Awakening artwork

Dune Awakening Infected Enemies are the glowing targets you need for The Scourge event contracts. You’ll hunt infected Kirab, Slavers, Deserters, Sandflies and Maas Kharet around Hagga Basin, then move on to mutated versions for later quests. The event runs until November 9, 2026, according to Funcom’s updated announcement.

The first quests ask for infected eyeballs, and the later Cortex quests need mutated brain tissue. Each contract names a different enemy group. The tables below separate normal camp locations from player-tested wrecks, so you can find the right targets without expecting every spawn to appear on every visit.

Eyes of the KirabGlowing KirabKirab camps in Eastern Vermillius Gap
Eyes of the OutlawSlavers or DesertersSlaver camps around Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub and outlaw camps
Eyes of the ForsakenSandflies or Maas KharetSandflies in Western Shield Wall; Maas Kharet near Mysa Tarill and The O’odham

For Eyes of the Kirab, collect five infected eyes from the glowing Kirab. Search multiple camps in Eastern Vermillius Gap if the first one contains only ordinary Kirab. An enemy that isn’t infected will not necessarily drop the contract sample, even if it belongs to the right faction.

The Outlaw stage uses infected Slavers or Deserters. The Forsaken stage moves to Sandflies or Maas Kharet, with Sandflies around Western Shield Wall reported as a useful farming target. Look for the yellow glow and confirm that you have accepted the corresponding contract from Frida Maltros.

With Dune Awakening Infected Enemies, being at the right camp isn’t enough by itself. Your active contract controls which sample you need. If you’ve collected Kirab eyes but the journal is asking for Outlaw eyes, move to a Slaver or Deserter camp rather than farming more Kirab.

Where to find mutated enemies for the Cortex contracts

The Outlaw CortexMutated Slavers or DesertersWreck of the Tisiphone, Jabal Eifrit Al-sharq; Wreck of the Kytheria, Hagga Rift
The Forsaken CortexMutated Sandflies or Maas KharetWreck of the Alecto, Western Shield Wall

These wrecks are player-reported farming locations, not guaranteed spawns on every visit. The Cortex stages require mutated brain tissue, not the eyes you gathered earlier. If you’re getting the wrong drop, check the quest name and make sure the enemy is the mutated version of the correct faction.

Each Cortex contract calls for five samples from its named group. Five ordinary enemies won’t do, and five Kirab samples won’t satisfy an Outlaw contract. If a wreck is empty, check another suitable wreck or camp instead of continuing to kill enemies that don’t match the objective.

How to unlock Dune Awakening Infected Enemies contracts

Start The Scourge by speaking to Frida Maltros in a medical tent beside a Hagga Basin trade post or at Shaffat’s Clinic in Arrakeen. Recover the crashed cargo in Eastern Vermillius Gap, then finish Eyes of the Kirab. These first two contracts open the reward shop and lead into the later enemy stages.

Our The Scourge walkthrough covers the full contract sequence. If you mainly want the shop currency, see how to farm Blood Marks. Regular harvested blood counts for donations, but it cannot replace infected eyes or mutated brain tissue for your quests.

Dune Awakening Infected Enemies not spawning

Some sietches failed to load Halloween event tents, wrecks and enemies during the opening days. Funcom fixed this on official servers on October 26 and extended the change to all servers with hotfix 1.5.15.3 on October 28. Download the patch first and restart Steam if the update isn’t appearing.

If Dune Awakening Infected Enemies still don’t appear, check that the correct Scourge contract is active, visit the named region and confirm the target type. Our Scourge not appearing guide covers the October 28 event-content fix. Switching to another sietch was a player-reported temporary workaround before the patch, but isn’t guaranteed and isn’t available in single-player. Our NPC spawning guide has further checks.

For a missing crash-site interaction, check the exact contract marker west of The Stash and our shipwreck-marker article. Not every missing map marker indicates the event itself is broken.

When do Dune Awakening Infected Enemies disappear?

The Scourge ends on November 9, 2026, but Funcom has not specified an exact final hour in the updated announcement. Complete your Eyes and Cortex contracts before the deadline. The enemies are part of the time-limited event, not a permanent substitute for regular Hagga Basin opponents.

For Dune Awakening Infected Enemies, track the current Eyes or Cortex contract, head to the corresponding area and look for the correct infected or mutated targets. If they aren’t appearing after the October 28 patch, follow our Scourge troubleshooting guide rather than repeatedly clearing normal camps.
