Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty asks you to have a companion pick up 25 Scallops for 15 Dubloon Tokens in the Seafaring Star Path. Simply collecting 25 Scallops yourself is not enough. Your pet needs to do the collecting, which makes this one of the more awkward tasks in the 25-duty event.
The quickest place to start is Dazzle Beach. Bring a fox, turtle or crocodile companion that collects fishing-related resources, watch for Scallops on the sand, and make sure your character doesn’t scoop them up first. You can also dig in the sand for more chances at Scallops, although getting the companion to reach each one takes patience.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty: how to finish all 25
- Open Events → Seafaring Star Path → Duties and check that the Scallop objective is active.
- Open Inventory → Wardrobe → Companions and equip a suitable collecting pet. Players have reported success with foxes and other fishing-resource companions.
- Check the companion’s pickup preference if one is available. Some players have had more success with broad item collection rather than a restrictive setting.
- Go to Dazzle Beach and look for Scallops lying on the sand. Do not confuse them with Clams or Oysters.
- Allow the companion to approach the Scallop and collect it. Avoid running through it yourself.
- Return to the Duties screen and see whether the counter has increased. Keep doing this until you reach 25/25, then claim the 15 Dubloons.
The Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty tracks the pet’s help, not just the number of shellfish in your inventory. Watching the counter after the first Scallop is worth doing. If it stays at zero, change your approach before repeating the same mistake another 24 times.

Where to find more Scallops on Dazzle Beach
For the Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty, Scallops appear on the ground along Dazzle Beach alongside other beach seafood. Walk both sides of the beach, including the areas around the bridge and shoreline. It’s easy to mistake a Clam or Oyster for a Scallop at a glance, so check the item name before assuming it will count.
When the ground is clear, dig in Dazzle Beach sand for a chance to uncover additional Scallops. This isn’t guaranteed on every hole: you may get other shellfish or different resources instead. Digging works best for the Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty when you stop after each hole and let your companion move to the dropped item before you start digging again.
Some players use a Miracle Shovel Varnish to make digging more productive, but it still doesn’t guarantee Scallops, so don’t spend scarce Dreamlight on a potion expecting instant completion. Naturally spawned Scallops can be an easier option if your pet is slow to react to items you dig up.
Why isn’t my companion collecting the Scallops?
The biggest problem with the Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty is that your character can grab the shellfish before the companion reaches it. Dig once, stop moving and wait for the pet to finish its pickup animation. Rushing through a row of holes can leave you with plenty of Scallops but no progress.
The Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty only counts Scallops, so make sure you’re collecting the correct seafood. A pet may retrieve Clams or Oysters without advancing the Scallop counter. Dropping Scallops from your inventory and asking the pet to retrieve them isn’t a reliable shortcut; players report those recycled items don’t register for this task.
If the pet appears to collect Scallops but the counter remains at zero, try another fishing-resource companion, check its pickup preference, and test one naturally spawned Scallop. Reports from the October event include cases where players still couldn’t register progress after trying multiple pets. In that situation, avoid claiming there is a guaranteed fix: the counter may be bugged.
Which companion works best?
Foxes, crocodiles and turtles are associated with Fishing Gathering in the companion system, making them useful candidates for the Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty. Players have specifically reported foxes successfully collecting Scallops. You don’t need to own Lieutenant Monkey or buy the Premium Star Path just to try the task with a pet you already have.
If you’ve unlocked the ability to equip two companions, you can try keeping both active, but don’t assume a second pet will make the counter register if the first one doesn’t. Companion collection settings and the distance between your character and a dropped Scallop can make a bigger difference than having more pets following you.

Make the 25-Scallop task less frustrating
For the Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty, work a small section of Dazzle Beach rather than sprinting across the whole biome. Dig a hole, wait, check what dropped and let the pet respond. If the pet is gathering correctly, repeat. You can save time by working on other beach activities between natural shellfish respawns.
Players with an Ancient Gardening Machine from A Rift in Time have reported using it for repeated digging while they stay still, giving companions a better chance to reach dropped Scallops. That is an optional workaround, not a requirement, and it depends on already having the machine. Don’t buy an expansion simply for this task.
Another way to tackle the Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty is to let Scallops respawn naturally and return later. There is no confirmed fixed number of minutes between useful spawns, so don’t rely on a timer. The Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty is much easier to manage in short visits than by digging until your beach is covered in holes.
Does selling Scallops count for this duty?
No. The Disney Dreamlight Valley Scallop Companion Duty and the Seafaring task to sell 100 seafood are different objectives. The weekly Coral Crown routine also asks you to sell 50 seafood. Selling Scallops can help those sale counters once you’ve collected them, but it won’t replace the 25 companion pickups needed here.
When your companion has collected all 25 Scallops, open the Seafaring duties and claim your 15 Dubloon Tokens. This is one of 25 regular duties worth 350 Dubloons altogether. The Seafaring event began on 21 October 2026 and is advertised by Gameloft as running through 2 December, so finish this before the reward window closes.
