Mysterious Driftstone V is the new event driftstone in Monster Hunter Now Halloween 2026. It drops as a guaranteed reward from featured large monsters and elder dragons during the event, and it can give armour one of four announced skills: Critical Range Boost, Ice Attack, Charge Master or Partbreaker. Driftstones earned during the event also benefit from a reduced 1 km driftsmelting distance.

Check the featured-monster lineup before setting off. Those hunts award the new driftstone in place of the normal colours, while nonfeatured monsters give one of the six standard colours. If you want a chance at Critical Range Boost, Ice Attack, Charge Master or Partbreaker, focus on the featured pool.
How to get Mysterious Driftstone V
During Monster Hunter Now Halloween 2026, featured large monsters and elder dragons guarantee Mysterious Driftstone V. The developers explicitly say regular driftstones will not drop from that featured group during the event. This applies to the event’s featured pool, not just one named species, and the featured lineup changes on November 2.
All other large monsters guarantee a Crimson, Azure, Amber, Cyan, Pale or Black Driftstone instead. These other monsters cannot drop Mysterious Driftstone V during the event. Your reward will come from that standard colour group, not the new Halloween stone. Elder Dragon Interceptions are also worthwhile for Halloween equipment materials, although they have separate rewards from the driftstone bonus.
Featured monsters in Part I and Part II
Mysterious Driftstone V farming starts with Part I on October 26 at 9 AM local time. The featured large monsters are Aurora Somnacanth, Black Diablos, Somnacanth, Legiana, Stygian Zinogre, Espinas, Brute Tigrex and Bazelgeuse. Some of these also have riftborne variants. The announcement additionally identifies Velkhana as an elder dragon expected to become more active at Interception points.
From November 2 at 9 AM, Part II features Aurora Somnacanth, Black Diablos, Azure Rathalos, Glavenus, Brachydios, Viper Tobi-Kadachi, Kulu-Ya-Ku and Deviljho. Not every Kulu-Ya-Ku has the Halloween pumpkin rock. That special version is associated with EX Exchange Tokens rather than a separate named type of Mysterious Driftstone V. In either phase, the safest approach is to follow the featured-monster list and hunt the species that fit your build and equipment progression.
All four announced Mysterious Driftstone V skills
| Possible armour skill | Confirmed on event driftstone? |
|---|---|
| Critical Range Boost | Yes |
| Ice Attack | Yes |
| Charge Master | Yes |
| Partbreaker | Yes |

Those four skills are the announced possibilities, not guaranteed outcomes. The individual probabilities haven’t been published; the developer plans to add further details to its FAQ.
Partbreaker is especially interesting while hunting seasonal rewards, since the Halloween event doubles part-break material payouts. It is still the regular Partbreaker skill, however, not the new Partbreaker (Halloween) skill on Jack-o’-Head. The tenfold event multiplier applies only to the Halloween-specific skill. You can work on both activities without treating them as identical bonuses.
How the 1 km driftsmelting bonus works
The distance for driftsmelting using driftstones obtained during the Halloween event is reduced to 1 km. The wording is tied to when the stone was obtained, not a permanent change to every previously collected driftstone. The event also guarantees coloured driftstones from nonfeatured large monsters, so the shorter-distance bonus is relevant even when a hunt doesn’t award Mysterious Driftstone V.
The 1 km bonus changes how far you need to travel, not the chance of receiving a particular skill. If you have multiple options to smelt, choose based on the armour and skill you actually intend to use. Alongside the driftstone bonus, the field access range increases by 50%, group hunts give an extra materials slot and part breaks pay double, making normal hunting productive beyond this one drop.
When can you farm Mysterious Driftstone V?
Mysterious Driftstone V is available during the event window from October 26 at 9 AM until November 8 at 11:59 PM local time. Part I ends November 2 at 8:59 AM and Part II begins a minute later. The Halloween 2026 Exchange Hubs remain available until November 15, but that extended spending window is not an extension of the featured-monster driftstone bonus.
Use the full event guide to coordinate your hunt schedule, or check Harvest Cloak token farming if you want progress towards the layered equipment while walking for driftstones. You can also collect additional rewards from pumpkin Kulu-Ya-Ku after November 2. For the fastest usable route, check your current featured-monster pool, hunt the targets you can defeat reliably and driftsmelt stones collected during the event while the 1 km distance reduction applies.
